[PC] I can't for the life of me get NFS Heat to work

I haven't played the game for weeks and tried playing again at the start of May to no avail. I start the game, it boots up, shows me those light tubes of the main menu, goes to the title screen and apart from the trailer playing nothing else happens. I tried backing up my savefile and deleting the original but it still did the same exact thing. I have tried looking around for a fix but the only people who seem to have this problem are folks on Xbox and not on Origin. I find it incredibly frustrating that I for the life of me can't seem to find a fix, let alone another person playing on through Origin having the same problem as me. It worked fine after launch and I even played 13 hours of Heat according to Origin but now that I wanna play again and can't I just get more and more angry at how rediculous this is! Why has nobody fixed this stupid issue yet?!

  • Hey, @Ruftinator make sure that all drivers for windows are up to date.

You can also try to do a clean boot to see if there any programs messing with NFS: HEat and turn off any overlay programs for example Discord or Nvidia experience.

Worth to reinstall the GPU drivers for your PC.

Let me know if this works or not for you. 🙂

  • Thanks for the reply. I have yet to try it out but the weirdest part about this problem is the fact that the game boots fine on my personal rig but has the problem on my laptop. I think it might have something to do with the way I've stored the game however. On my personal rig I've got it installed on an internal HDD that runs, iirc, at 7200rpm. My laptop was all-round perfect for my architecture course except for the storage which is only a mere 256GB on an internal SSD, so I bought a 4TB external HDD for it when I bought the laptop. It has worked fine right after launch, same as the 2 titles before it, but after a couple of weeks I took a break from Heat during which Ghost updated the game and now it won't let me get past the intro screen, except for when I play the game on my PC. I'm definitely gonna try the tips you gave to hopefully get it running on both systems but I feel like it for some unknown reason has to do with the slower than normal drive that I've got it installed on, my 4TB external HDD.
