Racing wheel for Needs for Speed: Rivals
Does anyone know if there is ANY sort of support for racing wheels in this freaking game? I have a Fanatec CSR wheel and would LOVE to use it for this game, yet as of yet it is unplayable. I've tried every single firmware/driver updates combination possible and not a single freaking one works. I can't steer, my clutch is both my gas and brake, and I can't navigate the menus at all. I'm going to be less than pleased if I bought this game and I can't use my wheel on it. And for anyone going to say "do research before purchasing", when have you ever heard of a racing game in which you CAN'T use a racing wheel. If there is a single soul out there that knows how to use a racing wheel with this game PLEASE let me know. I do not want to have wasted money on this game.

THIS IS NOT NECESARILLY A COMPLETE SOLUTION. JUST A WAY TO BE ABLE TO USE YOUR WHEEL WITH NEED FOR SPEED RIVALS, BUT IT IS NOT PERFECT AND WILL NOT BE UNTIL EA DECIDES TO FIX IT THEMSELVES. UNTIL THEN, THIS IS THE BEST THING I COULD COME UP WITH. THE WHEEL WORKS JUST FINE AND SO DO THE PEDALS, YOU JUST MIGHT HAVE TO WORK WITH THE SETTINGS FOR A LITTLE BIT TO GET THEM TO YOUR LIKING AS YOU WOULD WITH ANY GAME.
After many hours of researching I actually found a solution. It is called x360ce, and it is an xbox 360 controller simulator for your computer. There are two parts to it. The first is the program and that can be found here, and the second is the file to go with it, and that can be found here. Don't worry about this saying it is the 32 bit. It will ONLY work with the 32 bit version. You also HAVE to use the Rivalsx86.exe to run the game. There is virtually no difference performace wise between the 32 bit and 63 bit versions of the game. I played extensively for hours last night and noticed no decrease in performance. This works very well and I was actually using my CSR Racing wheel on this game last night.
For anyone that would like to use this, download those files and extract everything from both zips into your NFS:Rivals root directory (for me since I got it through origin it is found here "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed(TM) Rivals")
Next thing you are going to want to do is run the x360ce.exe file. It will tell you there is no x360ce.ini and ask if you would like to create one. Select yes. Make sure that your wheel is connected to the pc and on. Then, go to the options tab. Disable the Internet Settings Database features and select every option under the "Installed Files" menu. Now quit out of this for just now and open up the newly formed x360.ini file. At the very bottom of the "Options" menu, type in "Verion=1", withouth the quotations. Then, go down to input mode, and at the bottom of that put,
HookLL=0
HookCOM=1
HookSA=0
HookWT=0
HookDI=1
HookPIDVID=1
HookName=1Save that file and open up the x360.exe file again. Now, check at the top where it lists the controllers. Controller 1 should now have a green box next to it. If not, try putting all of the files from the x360ce_lib32_r848_VS2010.zip. If that doesn't work I'm sorry to say I'm not 100% sure why it won't. That you might have to do more research on, but if you do everything as I said you should be just fine. Now go through the options and change your controls to your liking. For the turning though, you need to choose the "Stick Axis X' on the left side (for the left stick) and then turn the wheel right or left. If you try setting the steering to "Stick Left" or "Stick Right" then the turning will be either on or off. Also, you need to, on the left side of the screen, go to the "D-Pad" setting and select "D-Pad 1". This will allow your d-pad to work. If it doesn't from default, then keep that option on and set the d-pad directions seperately. After setting your controls there is only one thing left you need to do. Click on the "Advanced" tab under controller 1 and under device type select "GamePad". Rivals only recognizes gamepads not wheels and this program will change that for the game to recognize. After all of that is finished, click "Save" on the bottom right of the window and quit out of the program. Then you MUST run the game using the "Rivalsx86" file. This program only works with 32 bit versions and as I stated above, there is no difference between 32 bit and 64 bit. Hopefully this helps others like me that bought the game assuming you could use a wheel, just to find out you can't.
P.S. the force feedback does not exactly work with this program since the game sees it as a controller not a wheel. You can get the wheel to "rumble" but there is no force feedback..
