Racing wheel for Needs for Speed: Rivals

Does anyone know if there is ANY sort of support for racing wheels in this freaking game? I have a Fanatec CSR wheel and would LOVE to use it for this game, yet as of yet it is unplayable. I've tried every single firmware/driver updates combination possible and not a single freaking one works. I can't steer, my clutch is both my gas and brake, and I can't navigate the menus at all. I'm going to be less than pleased if I bought this game and I can't use my wheel on it. And for anyone going to say "do research before purchasing", when have you ever heard of a racing game in which you CAN'T use a racing wheel. If there is a single soul out there that knows how to use a racing wheel with this game PLEASE let me know. I do not want to have wasted money on this game.

    THIS IS NOT NECESARILLY A COMPLETE SOLUTION. JUST A WAY TO BE ABLE TO USE YOUR WHEEL WITH NEED FOR SPEED RIVALS, BUT IT IS NOT PERFECT AND WILL NOT BE UNTIL EA DECIDES TO FIX IT THEMSELVES. UNTIL THEN, THIS IS THE BEST THING I COULD COME UP WITH. THE WHEEL WORKS JUST FINE AND SO DO THE PEDALS, YOU JUST MIGHT HAVE TO WORK WITH THE SETTINGS FOR A LITTLE BIT TO GET THEM TO YOUR LIKING AS YOU WOULD WITH ANY GAME.

    After many hours of researching I actually found a solution. It is called x360ce, and it is an xbox 360 controller simulator for your computer. There are two parts to it. The first is the program and that can be found here, and the second is the file to go with it, and that can be found here. Don't worry about this saying it is the 32 bit. It will ONLY work with the 32 bit version. You also HAVE to use the Rivalsx86.exe to run the game. There is virtually no difference performace wise between the 32 bit and 63 bit versions of the game. I played extensively for hours last night and noticed no decrease in performance. This works very well and I was actually using my CSR Racing wheel on this game last night.

    For anyone that would like to use this, download those files and extract everything from both zips into your NFS:Rivals root directory (for me since I got it through origin it is found here "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed(TM) Rivals")

    Next thing you are going to want to do is run the x360ce.exe file. It will tell you there is no x360ce.ini and ask if you would like to create one. Select yes. Make sure that your wheel is connected to the pc and on. Then, go to the options tab. Disable the Internet Settings Database features and select every option under the "Installed Files" menu. Now quit out of this for just now and open up the newly formed x360.ini file. At the very bottom of the "Options" menu, type in "Verion=1", withouth the quotations. Then, go down to input mode, and at the bottom of that put,

    HookLL=0
    HookCOM=1
    HookSA=0
    HookWT=0
    HookDI=1
    HookPIDVID=1
    HookName=1

    Save that file and open up the x360.exe file again. Now, check at the top where it lists the controllers. Controller 1 should now have a green box next to it. If not, try putting all of the files from the x360ce_lib32_r848_VS2010.zip. If that doesn't work I'm sorry to say I'm not 100% sure why it won't. That you might have to do more research on, but if you do everything as I said you should be just fine. Now go through the options and change  your controls to your liking. For the turning though, you need to choose the "Stick Axis X' on the left side (for the left stick) and then turn the wheel right or left. If you try setting the steering to "Stick Left" or "Stick Right" then the turning will be either on or off. Also, you need to, on the left side of the screen, go to the "D-Pad" setting and select "D-Pad 1". This will allow your d-pad to work. If it doesn't from default, then keep that option on and set the d-pad directions seperately. After setting your controls there is only one thing left you need to do. Click on the "Advanced" tab under controller 1 and under device type select "GamePad". Rivals only recognizes gamepads not wheels and this program will change that for the game to recognize. After all of that is finished, click "Save" on the bottom right of the window and quit out of the program. Then you MUST run the game using the "Rivalsx86" file. This program only works with 32 bit versions and as I stated above, there is no difference between 32 bit and 64 bit. Hopefully this helps others like me that bought the game assuming you could use a wheel, just to find out you can't.

    P.S. the force feedback does not exactly work with this program since the game sees it as a controller not a wheel. You can get the wheel to "rumble" but there is no force feedback..

    Sorry to tell you, but you are out of luck. EA/Ghost left wheel support out of this game across all gaming platforms. If you can try and get you money back. Here is the main thread on this subject....

    http://answers.ea.com/t5/Need-for-Speed-Rivals/Need-for-Speed-Rivals-and-Logitech-steeringwheel-G25-or-G27/m-p/2557092#M6798

    And you are 100% correct. You shouldn't have to research anything...every NFS title up to this one worked with all racing wheels. One thing is for sure...I will do my homework in advance from now on. Preorder? Never again!

    If you read that thread...someone figured out some wierd "hack" that might work. Good luck with that.

  • This is not solved. I don't know how you can say this is solved. This is a hack to make your steering wheel emulate an xbox 360 controller. I have used it. It responds poorly with higher latency. Absolutely no road feedback. Quit telling people this is fixed when it is not. It is not a solution.

    If you want to spend countless hours trying to make a piece of **bleep** work go ahead. You will never be successful at trying to fool people into believing that this is proper solution, especially when EA owns the problem and has not yet fixed it. There is nothing like proper wheel support from within the program itself.

    I'm not trying to bash you. Just don't tell people the problem is solved when in fact it isn't.

    As I clearly stated in the above comment, this does NOT allow for force feedback. I warned that so if you absolutely want force feedback then do not get it. As for this not being solved, this will not TRULY be solved until EA decides to add a racing wheel control option. Until then, I would like you to find a better way to use a racing wheel than this. I've tried several different options, none of them working at all. Just plugging the wheel into the game without this program, my wheel has NO steering. Turning the wheel changes the rotation of the camera. The gas and brake pedals do NOT work, only the clutch does. If I depress the clutch the car drives, if I let off the clutch the car brakes, and the reverses. There is no possible way to scroll throught menu without this program. And to top it all off, there is no "This is the best fix that I can find at this time" option for this post, just "Solved". If that gets people to click on this link, download the program and use it then by all means I'm leaving this as solved. YOU decide whether or not you want to use this program, but for someone that spent a few hundred dollars on a racing wheel and would like to use it a racing game that has no wheel support, this is the best solution as of right now. That I have found anyway. If there are better solutions then please enlighten me. Otherwise, let people read this and make their own decision as to whether or not they want it. It may not be as responsive at higher sensitivites and kind of hard to drive the higher you go, but this is, as stated, a controller emulator, so right there that should tell you that it is not going to be perfect. Be happy with the fact that you can even use the wheel with this.

    I won't work. I did follow this procedure but still it did not solve the racing wheel problem in NFS Rivals. Does anyone have solution xbox x360 emulator pc. My OS win 8.1 64bit.

  • I have found how torun 64 bit its very easy go Options (Game Settings)  and V the 64 bit only 9.1 and 64 bit 1.3 after that you need xinput1_3.dll xinput9_1.dll just rename the 1_3 and if you ready let the xbox360 ce make to you 1_3 dll file, and you ready after.,
