  • Am I the only one who thinks it's complete bullsh*t they want us to underclock our factory OC cards to be able to play this game? I've tried everything and more...  nothing solves this problem at all. I've NEVER had problems like these with a game from another developer/publisher... I think the problem lies within the Engine and EA knows but doesn't want to solve it since the newer games are more important and they make more money from those. I've had problems like these with the whole Battlefiels series, Crysis and now Need for Speed Rivals... I was planning on buying Battlefield Hardline as well, but this is making me reconsider. If I wan't to buy an early-access game or kickstarter game I'll buy an early-access game or a kickstarter game and I can play beta's for free. I'm tired of buying games that are loaded with bugs, aren't even finished yet and have errors that make me unable to play the games. Most of the time I'm more frustrated than having fun while playing EA games., I hate this since they are actually my favorites.

Have you tried disabling Origin in-game overlay?

Have you tried disabling HBAO or SSAO (Ambient Occlusion) ?

  • The first things I've tried are of course lowering the settings...

I formatted my system drive and reinstalled Windows.

Downoaded and installed every Windows update.
Executed the DirectX setupfile that came with NFS Rivals.
I changed the TDR delay to 8 seconds.

    Completely turned off TDR.

    Turned off the aero theme.

Turned off PCI-E Link-state power management.

Tried older and newer graphiccard drivers after a driversweep.

Updated every driver on my computer.

    Underclocked my GPU.

I used the stocksettings for my GPU (was already on those settings).

Modded my GPU BIOS so the 80% powercap was removed and the fan runs at a 100%.

    Updated my motherboard BIOS.

Tried the 32 bits and the 64 bits executable.

Hell, I even cleaned my computer on the inside from dust and stuff like that yesterday, really careful of course.

When I say I've tried everything and more I mean I've tried everything and more.

But in my opinion all of the above shouldn't be necessary, even Battlefield 4 runs perfectly fine on my computer now (there are still a few small bugs though) and I've never had problems like these with any other game... I seriously only have problems like these with EA games, so I refuse to believe that my computer is the problem and I am the one who needs to solve this problem...

Since this game is already out there since November 2013 I am not expecting a solution from EA anymore, so I guess I won't be buying Hardline then 🙂 I'm done with all the frustrations I get from games I buy with my hard earned money.

    Eh?

A simple "Yes I tried those" would have sufficed, I was only trying to help :/

IDK what to tell you other than ^

    @DancesW1thDevils

I know you said you tried almost everything but since you did not mention this workaround, I though I should suggest it.
There is a directX version in the Game folder you can install / repair

    Here is the default location:

    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Need for Speed(TM) Rivals\__Installer\directx\redist

It's a long list, Once you have opened the redist folder, sort the list by type so you can easily find DXSETUP.

Then double click on the DXSETUP

  • Thanks for the help bro, but as you can see in my latest reply I've already tried that as well :P

All I need to know now if EA will fix this or not.

You know what I hate the most about this?

I've bought this game because I was bored of Battlefield 4, once in a while that happens to me and when I play another game for a while I will eventually get excited for BF4 again, Battlefield seriously is my ALL TIME FAVORITE game.

Yes, I love EA games... I've been a fan since I was a kid.

My longest NFS Rivals sessions was about 30 minutes, so I got a really good taste of the game and I love it, it's been a while since I enjoy a game as much as Battlefield... Hell, Rivals even got me excited for the Need for Speed series again, after ProStreet I didn't like any of them...

I've been trying to solve this problem all by myself for about two and a half weeks now, while I'm having a BURNOUT and sitting at home because I'm not able to work. And no, I don't say this just to get you guys to solve my problem, this is the absolute truth.

And all EA does is move my topic. The EA guy that replied didn't even read my freakin' reply since I DID try the DX that came with NFS Rivals, I mentioned this in a previous reply.

And now I don't hear anything from you guys, you don't even give me the feeling that EA cares while there are a lot of other fans with the exact same problem.

At first this game got me excited for the NFS series again, but because of the problems I have with the game and the fact that EA is too lazy to even read my freakin replies made me ruin the whole series for me again. Now I'm even considering selling my Origin account and not play an EA game ever again, this is not the first time I'm having issues with EA games. The lack of EA support makes me feel sick to my stomach, it's making me feel like I've been ripped off and EA only want my money.

I've payed hard earned money for this game, the least EA could do is making me feel like they care... You're losing a really loyal fan right now 🙂

The way you are treating my right now is DEFINITELY not how you should treat a loyal customer.

How would you guys feel when you buy a new computer and all you can do is sit and stare at it because it doesn't have a CPU, GPU, mainboard etc. ? And the guy in the store you've bought it from looks at you silly as if it's normal that you buy an expensive computer without all the necessary parts to even call it a computer?

Because I bought a game that only takes disk drive space, that's really all it does. Except for all the frustrations I've had from trying to get this game to run, of course. Which was a lot of freakin' fun! It was definitely worth my €20,- !
