Re: My son cannot Connect to Autolog. (fa2)

I am having the same issue.  I bought a digital copy on PS4. My kids and I liked it so much I bought a digital copy on each of my kids Nintendo Switches so we can race each other.  They are 9 and 12.  I authorized both to play EA games online through the link sent by Nintendo.  Neither of them can connect to the autolog to do online play. They both get error fa2.  So I currently own three copies of a game we can't get to work. They play tons of online games on their switch.  I don't know why I can't get this one to work.

I have an EA account.  They do not.  Do I need to create those for them?  I only see how to add teenagers.

  • After spending too much time with EA technical support and providing screenshots, they feel the error is a connectivity issue.  I was told to contact Nintendo support.  My kids have no issues connecting to Fortnite, Splatoon 2, Rocket League, etc.  I asked about it being an age restriction and they said that should not be the issue on this game.

I then called Nintendo support and they went through all their troubleshooting and said it appears to be an EA issue. They thought it could be a age issue, but said that this isn't the message that typically pops up.

I bought the copies digital, so I am requesting a refund from Nintendo. I don't need three copies if we can't play together. I will just play on PS4 and we can take turns.

I am attaching the pictures of the screens I get.  The white screen pops up first, then the black screen with the fa2 in the bottom left.  Sorry for the low quality.  I don't know how to grab the screenshots from the switch.  I had to use my cell phone.

Nothing ever asks us to link to an EA account.  Both child Nintendo accounts show that EA is an authorized service on my Nintendo parent profile.

If someone is able resolve this, I would consider getting the games again.  I have too many hours invested already to keep trying.  I am done.

  • @chief_lbshonestly if you cant get past fa2, you cant sign in, making other accounts would be useless. They said going on to the game in docked mode should fix it, but something is wrong with his switch  (according to GameStop), so I was really just asking if there were any other solutions.

Interesting.  Why would docked mode make a difference? Unless you hard wire, it is still the same wifi network connection.  My kids rarely dock their switches. I wonder if it would it need to be docked every time you want to play online or just the first time? How would this work for someone who owns a Switch Lite and no dock? Not that it matters. I already returned the games.  Between EA and Nintendo, I spent several hours on the phone with tech support.  Nintendo finally deemed the games defective for me and offered a refund. It sounded like Nintendo has a policy against digital refunds, but felt this was a warranted scenario.  I was bummed.  I was looking forward to racing together.  If someone sorts this out, I will reconsider getting the game. But it better work, I don't think they will let me return it again! Until then, I can spend my money on games that work correctly.

Well you are very lucky to be hearing this as of I just saw a Google Discover post that someone posted about an update with multiple fixes with Autolog, the UI and everything else so that could be a good result for you as an update rolled out with bug fixes!

  • I know exactly why this is happening. You must register your switch to the account that you used to purchase the switch. If you purchased a hard copy, you still need to register the switch to the account you use to purchase games. You do this by going to the Nintendo Switch eShop. Once signed in, enter your account information by clicking your profile picture at the top right hand corner of the screen. Under your account name, scroll down to Primary Console. If it says that this console is registered to another account, deregister it. Exit the European and re-enter it by signing in with the account you used to purchase Need for Speed and/ or all games you typically purchase your games with. Now, play NfS and sign into your EA account. Done.

  • i have worked it out. it is an age thing. when u first play need for speed it asks u if u wan to share your nintendo account details, it then sees how old you are and it puts a limit on crossplay
