Re: PC Reboots at first loading screen

@flatlandfreak666

If the game is working when you disable your antivirus then you should be able to add the game to the whitelist in your antivirus and then keep it enabled.

Add the game file to your antivirus whitelist: Origin Games\Need for Speed Payback\NeedForSpeedPayback.exe

    On Saturday I updated my graphics card driver and it worked... however, the next day it didn't. and today it doesn't either. I tried adding the game .exe file to the whitelist and it still doesn't work.

    The problem is still happening to the game after more windows updates and graphics card updates too.

    I have ran antivirus scans, malware scans, tried more different graphics settings, tried disabling more startup programs and nothing works

    Is there any other way to get this problem solved through EA Games? Or possibly uninstall the game and get my money back?

    Try to determine what has changed since you were able to play. Disable your antivirus/antimalware and any other security software.

    It may also help to uninstall recent Windows updates (they can be reinstalled later if needed).

    As I mentioned previously, the game should not be causing your machine to reboot, that could be caused by your hardware (CPU/GPU) overclock being to aggressive. Try running both of those at stock clock speeds.

    I have done all of that and still nothing. I can play GTAV, Crysis 3, Dead island, DOOM, Borderlands 2 all with my system going as fast i can OC and keep it stable while pulling 60+ FPS on all games, but for some strange reason NFS Payback worked for a month and now nothing.

    Is your TV a Sony KDS-60A2000 ?

    How are you connecting to that in terms of DVI-D/DVI-I/HDMI etc.?

    Are you using any kind of converter on the video connection?

    Are you using default GPU settings?

    Strange that it would work for some time before stopping, can you pinpoint any change in setup/configuration that may have caused the issue?

    @EA_Barry

    I am running a dual display for my computer using my LCD monitor near the computer and when I play the game I sit on my couch and play the game through my sony kds 50a2020.(how did you know I have that kind of TV?) The TV is hooked up with the 50 foot HDMI cable and my LCD display is using a 3-foot DisplayPort both connections are hooked up directly to the graphics card at tge same time and there is no converter. I have had my computer and TV setup like this for more than 3 years with no problems. I have the computer setup so that both displays show the same thing at all times.

    The graphics card settings are set to default I only adjust Graphics settings in the game.

    The only thing I can remember ever doing was updating my graphics card driver and windows one night and the game worked that night but a few days later stopped working. I tried troubleshooting and went back to the old graphics driver and uninstalled the Windows updates and the game still didn't work. I have not changed any hardware or anything else to my system.

    @EA_Barry

    Tonight i tried unplugging the TV and the LCD monitor separately with no luck. i then tried once again to restore defaults to all graphics card settings and set all game graphics to low and i got the game to load 2 out of 5 trys(first and 3rd try worked, not 2nd, 4th, and 5th). So it seems like i can get the game to load sometimes if everything is set to defaults, but only sometimes... weird... why?

    I took a guess at your TV model by Googling "Monitor Id: SNY8200" from your Dxdiag.

    A few more troubleshooting steps:

    • Run System File Checker to ensure the integrity of your Windows System files: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
    • Right click the game in Origin and the Repair
    • It may also be worthwhile running a disk check using the info at this link
  •     I had this issue in the past with other games and here is what you may try to do.

       Go to Windows Event Viewer: start>search>type:event viewer>run as admin>expand the "windows logs" menu>application> and look for the most recent error, (or fatal error), message in the list or if you know the exact time of the error also use the time period in which your PC crash.

       In most cases the error is related as an "kernel power failure" or "kernel power loss" ... something like that.

        In this case go to your BIOS menu and save your current OC profile and reset BIOS to default settings.

       The game cause some massive hardware resources while loading and for this reason your OC profile can "punch" your components with big power demands that may not be set in the perfect way by you.

       If your PC won't restart with stock BIOS settings you may consider to try small power adjustments in your OC profile (+/-) and I would try to decrease voltages in the first instance.

       Also keep in mind any OC will cause an shorten life to any electronics... sooner or later.

       I hope you will find your way back to the game.

    I tried all 3 with no luck.☹️

    @Pair_Demons

    Thank you for joining in to help. I have tried multiple times to reset all OC to default with no luck as well. I never tried the event viewer before but it did come up with a Critical error for kernel power. heres the details:

    - System

      - Provider

       [ Name]  Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
       [ Guid]  {331C3B3A-2005-44C2-AC5E-77220C37D6B4}

      BugcheckParameter2 0x0
      BugcheckParameter3 0x0
      BugcheckParameter4 0x0
      SleepInProgress false
      PowerButtonTimestamp 0

    I'm starting to think this is somehow from a game update, i don't know if that means anything.

    Thank you both for your help though.

  • So... it's an kernel power as I was thinking...
    Don't get lose already because you know the source now even if "kernel" is an critical component.
    I think you already tried to use "repair game" in Origin client or reinstall the game at this moment.
    Try to look for similar error code on Google... there are many solved problems but you may face some big testing procedures so don't get upset.
    In last resort you may have an faulty motherboard VRM or CPU... but it's a long road to travel before confirming that.

    Try an BIOS update before that.

    Thank you for your help.

    @EA_Barry

    Nope. No upgrades on my system for the last 3 to 4 years its been the same running at the same stable overclock with no issue on any game... i don't get why this Wouldn't happen in GTAV since that game is way more resource hungry on a system then NFS payback... also the fact that the game worked perfectly for the first month with no problems and then after a few game updates, the game decides to stop working a week or 2 after the last update making me think that EA did something to the game in an update that changed the way the game accesses system resources causing it to crash 95% of the time.

    I say 95% cause i try a few times each day to run the game and maybe 1 out of 20 tries it magically works, like how i just got done playing the game for an hour. i stopped cause i had some family stuff to do but before i did that i exited the game and then tried to restart the game immediately and my system rebooted 3 times in a row.

    Im almost at a complete loss for words and my own time. I shouldn't have to update my system just to play a game that my system should and did run for a short while. Im about to find out how to get my money back cause this is too frustrating.

    thank you for your help though guys!

    @EA_Barry@Pair_Demons

    On saturday night i updated my graphics driver and did a fresh install, after the reboot i tried the game and POOF! IT WORKED!!!!......

    That night.....

    I tried it 10 times on sunday and 10 more tonight and nothing.

    What do i do at this point?

  • To be honest I don't think you have a software problem...
    I tried to search on Google for similar issues as you regarding the kernel power and this is what I found:
    1 Check for any heavy dust accumulated in your PC and PSU.
    2 Check all power connectors on your motherboard and GPU and even other consumers.
    3 Try to disconnect unnecessary consumers for a while like DVD drive, secondary HDDs, fans, LEDs
    (A system rebuild would be better)
    4 Check system stability using some stress benchmarks. (10-15 min for CPU and GPU is enough, also check DRAM stability ).
    5 Try another PSU if any friends can help you.
    If stress tests won't crash your PC but only the game will, just install the game on another drive.

    @EA_Barry

    My copy of windows is valid and activated properly.

    @Pair_Demons

    ill try that later tonight...

    my power supply is rated for SLI but i only have 1 graphics card, i might try to swap the other graphics card power cable since its never been used... think it will do anything?

    Thanks

  • Depends on how many power rails your PSU may have but you can try...

    I'm very stupefied about your problem... but you need to take some time and dig...

    @EA_Barry and @Pair_Demons

    Sorry ive been busy with family...

    I switched to different cables and PCI ports on the power supply and things went weird. Now all of my games play for a few minutes before they start slowing down, lagging, FPS drops... and my personal favorite happens on NFS Payback, artifacts! So playing any game now only lasts a few minutes at most before freezing and then crashing my system. After reboot i check the event viewer and i get that Kernel code.

    I dont know if its the PSU or GFX

    Im gonna look up more info online about the event ID: 41 and the locale ID: 1033.

  • You probably misplace the motherboard power cables with the GPU and this is why your PC crash at every hard task now.

    Try to find a PSU for test and you will find out what cause your problem.
    A friend may help...
