I have crashed at least 5 times playing goalie in EASHL games since the release of the latest patch. There is no warning or error message. Just straight crash to the Home Screen.
I have submitted a problem report via Microsoft's "Report a problem."
This is a new problem. Nothing has changed with my hardware. Crashes were rare in previous versions.

Having a similar issue with crashing to the Home Screen. Can no longer edit created teams in the Creation Zones.

This is an issue we're aware of and investigating. Hopefully, we'll get it resolved soon. I know this is very frustrating.
Happened to me as well 3 times this weekend, twice on friday night and once saturday night, all 3 times crashing to xbox home screen and I assume it happened to everyone as after rebooting the game I would see many of the same players in the matchmaking room.
Everytime happened in drop-in 6s only when the room was full 6vs6, the crashes occured during the players presentation twice and once half a sec after the puck drop. Pretty annoying.
Randomly. I have not noticed any discernible pattern. Just playing along and crash to the Home Screen.
If the devs and QA will play the game, it will undoubtedly happen to them - it's happening too frequently for it not.
Seems like the latest patch messed up a bunch of stuff. First the edit players not showing up, and now this.
What's next?

nhl23 crashed again and again i reinstall 5x and format 3 times i reload system del space in memory.. nothing do that,,,
but version nhl for ps4 work good

i re download 5 times 42gb .... and install and allways the same after i install nhl i load game and bang crashed in menu start up ..

Try rebuilding your database with the steps here. Also, restore your licenses with these instructions. Thank you.
ps5... in all menu crashed when i try to start 1 game.. on first faceoff ... all freeze and crashed and close application .. and msg for send error click for send ...

i format my ps5 wipe all cache memory reset my ps5 reload all .... update etc etc etc ..
i have only nhl23 installed on my ps5 nhl23 on ps5 and nhl23 ps4
i have no probs with ps4 all work on nhl3ps4 alll is ok no probs
