Hello, @CybershadeSR
I'd like you to power cycle your equipment with the following steps: unplug your modem/router and console. After 2 minutes plug in the modem/router. Let them come back online completely. Then plug in your console and start it up. Let me know what happens.
Since your hotspot works, it's possible there is an issue with your ISP and possibly blocking the connection to our servers. However, you say you can connect fine on a wired connection. Is it possible to just stay wired? That's always going to provide the best connection. However, if you have to go wireless, make sure you're using a 5G connection.
Sounds good. Just get back to me when you can.
- @curtish666 Yo here’s what worked for me, but it will only work if you have friends online, in a lobby.
Step 1: Get the the network connection error screen in nhl 23.
Step 2: Press main menu button on ur ps/xbox remote “I’m ps”
Step 3: Attempt to join a friend’s lobby while the network error screen is still up in the app. It kind of glitches out, and begun to load. Once you’re online you can now access the rest of the content. Good luck dudes. I can unplug my console but I don't have the ability to unplug my router though.

That's crucial to the power cycling process. Is your router somewhere you don't have access to? Also, are you on a wireless connection? One other thing, have you tried connecting to a wireless hotspot? If not, give that a try. It's only as a test and not meant to be a permanent solution.
I'm using a wireless connection and I don't have a hotspot. I'm not allowed to disconnect my router. I've tried switching my WiFi connection to the 5G version since I have a regular and 5G version of my WiFi that I can connect to.

Unfortunately, as long as you remain on a wireless connection, disconnects and lag are to be expected.
Routers need power cycling now and then so chances are good that would help. Especially, if it's been a long time since you did that last.
But is it normal to only be affecting NHL 23? I have no connection problems with other games. Even NHL 22 still works with no issues.

Every game is different so it's possible you'll have lag with one game where another may not. My best advice is to try using a wire and see if there's a difference.
I don't have a wire for that kind of thing.

Unfortunately, we can't rule out any issues with being on a wireless connection. Most likely, that's the case since it's the biggest reason for disconnects and lag. You can try editing your router settings to put your console on it's own wireless channel. That may help. A good solution for others in the same situation is to use a powerline adaptor.
