Base Card Champs is a Great Addition

A little positivity towards the content team - base card champs has been a lot of fun to play. It's nice using cards with deficiencies in areas and differentiators in others and the gameplay feels great as well as these are the overalls it's tuned for.

Moreover, the lineups are restricted but not overly so as everyone has base cards, so it was easy to assemble a team... much easier than the base icon champs.

Great addition by the HUT content team and hopefully we see more of these throughout the summer.

  • I agree - I was really pumped for the Base Card challenge as the cards are balanced. Well done, Content Team!

Unfortunately, the idea is all the credit I can give them. I understand HUT is a just a money grab to the EA Team, as they've proven time after time showing complete disregard to community feedback, and you're going to try to make money off of any event but come on guys. Finally a challenge with balanced cards and you go and release OP cards that people spend money on. That seems like it defeats the purpose of the challenge but I'm not hating on those who opened up their wallets, as I have in the past as well... it just seemed like a good opportunity to have a level playing field and that's obviously not the case. I should have known better after playing the Icon Challenge.

For the record, I don't think EA deserves all of the hate they receive.. but yall do not help your case. Ever. lol

Money over everything, sure.. but also nice to throw your loyal, paying customers a bone every now and then....

I don't see how there's a disregard of community feedback. There have been numerous changes this year alone based on this. We even have the Community Requests items.

Obviously, HUT is a monetized mode. However, we have added many ways to get items for free. Again, community feedback played a big role in this. There really isn't a need to spend money. There are YouTube series dedicated to this specifically. HUT is not solely there to be a money grab. It also offers some of the most competitive play. People say they hate the sweats, but they also provide some pretty intense competitive action.

@EA_Aljo you're right, that was not the correct way to phrase that. You guys do a good job of visibly acknowledging feedback. What it should have said is a complete disregard for the community- I apologize.

Don’t get me wrong- I love the game and the mode or I wouldn’t spend countless hours grinding objectives, moments, Rivals, SB, and HC that result in hardly equitable rewards and empty packs. The feeling of accomplishment gone within a split second of opening that big pack you’ve been saving up for to get an 84ovr in June.

I guess what I’m saying is more often than not, the juice ain’t worth the squeeze and many, many people have expressed discontent and rewards seem to get worse and worse… but we all genuinely enjoy the game so we keep playing. That’s the disregard for the community that I was talking about.

Other than that the Base challenge was great, I loved it.

If I'm understanding you right, your issue is not getting higher overall items in reward packs?

No, I’m not asking for sick pulls every time that would also take some fun out of it.

Overall, I would say my issue is that everything appears, from a consumer perspective, to come down to be a money grab and that the rewards for completing week+ long objectives are usually not worth the grind it takes from a time standpoint. I don’t think any of your customers would complain if you increased the odds, though, now that you mention it. There is a satisfaction in grinding for a reward but when you complete a list of objectives for a pack that contains an 85-95 ovr player and somehow you always end up with the 85 that’s pretty crummy. Not only does it feel like a massive waste of time and make one resent the game but it’s also BS that some people who complete the same list may actually pull the high end of the range (if they do exist). More demanding objectives should have a better reward for all- a 10ovr differential is kind of an F U to your community since I’m guessing the majority are pulling the bottom end.

That’s just one example off the top of my head but I’d say most are disappointed in the rewards as a whole. I’m guessing/hoping you guys at least take a peak at the HUT subreddit so I’m sure you’re well aware of that by now.

Appreciate your time @EA_Aljo - you’ve got a tough job I will give you that lol

Appreciate the feedback. Thank you. It would be good to see more guaranteed rewards rather than an item range. Which, as you pointed out, normally results in a the low end of that range since the probabilities are often weighted as such.
