AI in 2025 NHL

If you're constantly seeing your opponents have better AI, it's most likely due to the human controlled players staying in position. If you are out of position, the AI will move around to cover the open ice. So, they won't be in the best positions to make biggest difference. Also, try adjusting your strategies to counter how your opponent is playing.

I’m not trying to be rude or mean hereEA_Aljo​ but your answer I think (in my own opinion playing the game) is wrong.

In real hockey/NHL, sure, a player can have a designated defensive zone, but you don’t just stay in that zone. Generally there’s a man-to-man thing going on which does require you to move around outside of your zone.

i play winger mostly in my be a pro. My teammates leave somebody open WIDE OPEN in the slot all the time. So I have to go cover down there.

The opposing AI on harder difficulties like all star and superstar is so whack and rigged against you “to add difficulty” likely because the devs can’t create a more competent AI.

what I mean by this is the opposing ai

• Has better goalies (this isn’t even close. You have to jack up your own teams goalie sliders to make it even close to fair)
• wins every loose puck battle (ESPECIALLY against a human but even against your own AI.
• Can cycle the puck in the offensive zone unlike your teammates
• can actually bring the puck into the zone without just carrying it straight into a body check like your own team
• plays defense unlike your team

This game sucks. These issues seem worse than NHL 21 which is the game I upgraded from. I likely will never buy another EA NHL game cause this is so unfair and not fun.

I get that. It's not realistic to stay in position 100% of the time. And normally, teammates cover each other. We're talking about how the AI behave though. Which is identical on both sides. The big differences are how the humans are controlling their players as well as which strategies you have set.

The AI on both sides are the same though. With the exception to varying overalls. 

Also, my comment was more direct towards online play in WoC. You're playing BaP and are obviously more reliant on the AI. Hopefully, we'll see them improve more over time.

This is completely untrue. No way. Idk if you play this game or not but if you spent 5 minutes on it you know this would not be true. Maybe on pro difficulty or something but not at the harder difficulties.

My teammates are completely incapable of carrying the puck into the zone on superstar (and likely all star too). They lose it almost immediately by just skating straight into a defender. My AI teammates on defense make to most incompetent passes in our D zone causing a turnover and then goal. The opposing AI never does that. 

and the AI goalies are unbelievably good. Whereas my goalies are normal. I could have Kaprizof shoot wide open in the slot and that’ll get saved 9.5/10 times. I’m talking be a pro here

Here is a perfect example of the be a pro AI. For context, this is all star difficulty (superstar is impossible with your brain dead AI teammates). I’ve set the opposing AI aggressiveness to 0 (because my brain dead AI just skates into the every time). 
so in this clip, my teammate gets the puck wide open, skates into the opposing defense and loses the puck (like always). Then on my end, my teammates get the puck back, and then pass the puck to the wide open forward on the other team for a goal? Absolutely NO WAY the opposing AI would ever do that.

I'm sorry Membre: EA_Aljo | EA Forums , but I completely disagree. Have you played this game recently? (Try, for example, World of Chel Pro-Am 3x3.) All face-offs are won by the opposing team, even if it's an AI player on both sides. The same goes for turnovers and breakaways... my team's AI scores a goal once every 10-15 breakaways, but on the other side, it's 1 in 3. Also, it frequently happens that my AI teammates make a useless pass (which is often intercepted) on a breakaway... or they rush the opponent unnecessarily when they have the puck, which causes a turnover and, very often, a goal.

I played several WoC games last night. My center had no problem with faceoffs so not sure what your issue is with them. It could be connection related. Have you turned on the on-ice trainer to see why you're losing them?

Thanks for the video. Appreciate it. Yeah, in that situation, it's just the AI making a bad decision. Unfortunate for sure.

EA_Aljo​ the AI on your team ONLY makes bad decisions. I’m serious. Play a single game on all Star. Or higher and your team is incapable of playing hockey at all. Not to mention then the game gives me “bad defense”. What the crap. I didn’t do anything wrong. Then my form score gets hurt and then I get demoted a line down. The mode is pathetic

I got this game from NHL 21 cause I fell for the marketing hype that the mode is revamped. Total lie. They made like 3 changes and that’s it. 

I will never buy another EA NHL game again. I don’t play HUT so clearly I’m not the target audience since I don’t buy microtransactions

Our target audience is everyone. It's not all about microtransactions. There are a ton of people playing HUT and WoC without spending anything extra. I personally only play WoC these days. Regardless, we're always looking to improve the AI players. I know they get attention every year. Hopefully, they'll improve more in the future.
