Eashl matchmaking is killing the game

My buddies and I are all over 40 and have played the game since the inception.  We aren’t competitive but we’re good enough to win 50% against similar talent.  We play for fun and to have the chance to catch up.   This year’s matchmaking is so terrible that we’re no longer going to play this game.  We’re constantly matched against purple and blue opponents and most often lose every game.   Such a shame matchmaking is causing so many to stop playing.   Figure it out, EA

  • Yes same here. We haven't played for couple of months now cause either can't find game or it's against some way way better team.

Hey there. I definitely get this. It's understandable you'd want to play a team of similar ranked players. Something to keep in mind is that we're several months in and much of the community has been regularly playing since launch. This means there's going to be a larger pool of higher ranked players. Restricting matchmaking results to only others in or right around your division is going to lead to longer wait times. Hopefully, we'll see NHL 25 added to EA Play. That should bring some new players into the mix to at least raise your chances of matching with similar players.

Hello. Are your searches regularly timing out? Are you trying to find full 6s matches?

This has absolutely nothing to do with the matchmaking.  We’ve played this game for over a decade and I understand the concept of players ranking up but not everyone is good enough to win 80% of games to be diamond or fire.  We’re in the lowest division and matching the highest players 90% of the time.

Mismatched clubs facing each other is completely matchmaking. The ranks of the other players is not part of it. If it were, there would be less lopsided matchups at the expense of longer waits. You're not the first to request this. We're aware of it and it's possible this could change in the future.

  • There's not enough players in the pool for custom matchmaking. Since they can't get new ones or attract back players that have left, this is the result we have.

What? The title of your post is how Matchmaking is killing EASHL.

I would argue the issue is more about the active player base being spread too thin across too many online modes.
