Not sure if this helps but even though it displays my username on the top right of the screen, the Play Online Versus screen doesn’t. And it has a default profile picture rather than my usual profile picture 

My started working in champ

deleted all saved data. 
error code still appears. 
9/10 times I don’t match with anyone before the error message pops up. But when I do, the lost connection to player message pops up. 

Same here. But in online versus mode. Random disconnects, error messages, game crashes, controller setting resets and so on…
