Cost of $ for packs

What are the chances we try and make this at least slightly reasonable this year? There are probably not (this is a personal assumption) a lot of whales as far as huge money spenders in this game. I feel like most won’t even consider buying coins for HUT do to the completely outrageous cost (even still 10% off when the game is close to 2 weeks out of existence). Why would you not be lowering current pricing for packs?
I just hope that coins are a remotely reasonable price this year as that may actually convince me to spend something. I’ve thought about it on a couple cards I’ve wanted, looked at the price for coins and realized why I personally (and everyone I’ve spoken to about the game) don’t spend actual money. How can those prices be justified? Is it for a select group of gamblers? The few streamers that are bringing an audience to the game?
There was one time (can’t recall the card) where buying the card cost more than the actual standard version of the game. Why is this a thing and how did it ever get to this point?

  • I can only speak for myself but I haven't spent a dime in HUT.  My team is a 97 overall.  I did it from events making at least 1 new card per event if not 2 during certain ones.  I just logged on daily did my dailies.  Completed the pass to get all the stuff and would do the weekly objectives.  It added up over time.

I started in January for my first HUT experience and have not found the need at all. I have been tempted though. My 95 Ovechkin is about to become trade fodder. I’m only saying that when I even look at spending for those random situations the prices are such an absolute turn off/laugh that I wouldn’t even consider it. I would consider opening up my wallet if and only if packs with current players aren’t worth more than the game itself. It’s making me wonder if the game is leaning in the cell phone app direction.
Not saying I want to spend but at the prices listed I wouldn’t even consider it

  • They would probably reduce the price of packs and maybe even throw in a few QoL upgrades here and there if there was a proper community effort to spend less on HUT.
You're all free to do what you want with your money and they can somehow keep getting away with "surprise mechanics" in court, but they know exactly what they're doing and don't care if even kids are getting in on the spending. The community technically holds all the power in this case but we aren't doing enough.

I'm going to be honest.  You don't need to spend money on gambles.  If you knew what every pack was gonna contain then I'd say you would get to decide if the pack is worth the price.  I bought the pack that had Hedman for like 500k coins.  It's a 99 and I had like 1mil coins.

  • Greed and complete disregard for the player base. Thats how we got here

Just go full "Road to Glory" and don't spend any money on gambling with packs. I still have my EA given 250 points on my NHL 25 HUT account that i never ever used.

HUT is way more rewarding, when you get some good player from an free pack, especially at the start of the game.

Problem is with such a small player base with NHL in comparison to literally any other ea sports title that could really effect patches to the game. I can’t recall any major content patches this year even.
