NHL 26 Feedback and Rating

First thing is first,

Hats off to the EA NHL Team on a good game they built this year. There’s definitely some changes with the gameplay and different modes they diligently worked on this past year. Some of the impressions of the game was the speed, this years game is faster and there is better skating. Second, there is better defending. I have noticed it is really easy playing defence this year than last year as there is more enhanced backwards skating.

With all the impressions, let’s look at the few things that should be implemented or patched and they’re real simple for me. Bring the mypro intros to offline or online gameplay, I wish there were tunnel entrances for the offline modes. Second, make the red full pressure boards optional, not all of us enjoy the red boards flashing. Third, make the passing icon indicators optional as they were optional in last years game.

Overall, a little more work has to be done on this game. It is good so far, but there needs to be more changes as stated previously. I would rate the game a 7/10. It is a step up from last years game, but the full pressure meter boards and the passing icons and intros need to change in order for me to give a better rating. Other than that, good job EA! This game is a step up from last year.

I’m playing Hut! And The mode where it’s suppose to be cup finals… the game completely freezes and plays just stay still after the first period. I’m overall not impressed… I tried to pause and unpause the game nothing.. now I gotta take a loss thanks… please try to fix the game so this don’t happen again. While I’m at it Chel is something different everyone spams LT and flys down the ice and last year chel our squad was like top 1,000.. we don’t play much but we’re decent. The start of this years holy smokes I think we’re like 2-6 already like what happen. I know you can say don’t hate the player hate the game but the wow please fix the LT spam. Goals are not realistic.

It's more a 2/10 game 😅 most of the dekes are so slow! No joke a elementary schooler have faster hand then those nhlers in this game 😅 the passe system seams Brocken! Even using the kinda news systems with the Y-X-B-LB it passe to a random player or completely the opposite side

Speedsters are broken "as always" no matter how good you are if someone use a speedsters he will score against you

We can clearly see EA only release a unfinished game once again and made it pay to win so they can grab our money

Please 2k bring back NHL ! We are done with those EA garbage game!

  • Hello EA Sports NHL Team,

As a long-time player, I would like to see the NHL penalty and review system significantly expanded. Currently, important penalty types and video review situations that are standard in real-life ice hockey are still missing. It would also be great if the German leagues were more fully integrated.

    Specifically, I would like:

Complete recognition of all penalties: e.g., spearing, butt-ending, knee check/clipping, headbutting, insulting the referee/unsportsmanlike conduct, player in the goal crease, handpassing, etc., all variations of major and misconduct penalties.

Expanded video review: more "no-goal" situations (kick motion, hand goal, goal crease offside, intentional goal movement, etc.), better referee logic, and visible hand signals/calls after review.

More authenticity in penalties, including double minor penalties, match penalties, and game misconduct penalties.

Integration of DEL2 and Oberliga with original teams, uniforms, arenas, and franchise support.

These additions would make NHL even more realistic and more appealing to fans of international leagues.

Thank you for continuing to work on the gameplay – many in the community would be delighted to see these features!

  • Feedback for EA Sports NHL — Realistic Hockey & Authentic Features

    > Dear EA Sports NHL Team,

First, thank you for improving referee animations and video review signals in NHL 26 — it’s a great step forward. To make the game truly reflect real hockey, the community would love to see deeper authenticity in future updates and upcoming NHL titles.

    Key requests:

Complete penalty system: add missing calls like spearing, butt-ending, clipping/kneeing, head-butt, abuse of officials, bench minors, double minors, match/game misconduct with correct frequency.

Expanded video review: goal/no-goal for kicking, hand passes, goaltender interference, crease violations, net dislodging — with clear referee audio announcements.

Referee presentation: live mic announcements after penalties and reviews for broadcast realism.

Realistic rule profiles: selectable NHL / IIHF / DEL rules (e.g., trapezoid, icing, physicality).

More European content: add DEL2 and Oberliga with full licenses, logos, and arenas for Franchise and Be a Pro.

These changes would make NHL far more authentic and enjoyable for offline and online players while keeping the game fresh for an international fan base.

Thank you for continuing to update and refine the series — these improvements would be game changers for many of us.

This is coming from the perspective of a seasoned EASHLer.

This game is unfortunately in a very bad, broken, dysfunctional state right now, bordering on unplayable.   Goalies have been nerfed into oblivion yet again, biting so hard on the first move that they almost move entirely out of the crease- This wasn't the case on release.

Passing is...beyond atrocious right now.   Now, after using the pass assist in various states, including 0, 100, 50, 60, 40, 30, 70...I'm leaning towards that being broken as the problem.   If one guy constantly has an issue, it's usually their issue...when an entire club is going "where tf is that pass going?/Why'd it go that way?" it's a bigger problem.

Thanks to the mega OP'd EE, you can just once again ballerina your way to the middle for the old school "glitch" shot- high glove cheese that drops 95 times out of 100- This wasn't a problem on release.   Normally, good solid positioning and contact would counter this. HOWEVER,  EE seems to allow you to become impervious to contact within that triangle (high slot to hashmark to hashmark)

X-Factors- Not sure why you felt the need to fix what wasn't broken here, but I think we all see what you tried to do..   Most of them are ok...problem children are Truculence, Elite Edges, and Wheels-  Three things that probably shouldn't even exist, those three attributes should be based on point allotment and nothing more.   However, they're not gonna be removed, so a good a proper nerf is in order for those guys.

Goalies- I mentioned them above, but on release they were very good.   They read plays, poked properly, sticked low shots into the corners, read dekes, and made the saves any novice should make.   After two updates that "contained no changes", they have gotten steadily worse.   Everything from once again ignoring rebounds, to not even reacting to unscreened shots, staying standing up, biting so hard on the first move they slide almost in the corner, over-committing on shots.

Then there's the pre-made Fortnite skins which...whatever, you're marketing to kiddos it is what it is.
Getting up after being bumped can take upwards of 20 in games seconds, and that's when you're not even winded.   That needs to be cut down by at least half

Overall this, to me, is a contender for one of the worst iterations of this game in a long time. Rivalling 15 through 18, 22, and 24.   25 took steps in the right direction, but 26 has taken double the amount backwards.
