No longer need to deke in '26

I've only played 4 games so far but I noticed on about 80% of the goals that were scored (playing 3's so there were tons), the player just shot the puck without doing anything. As you can see in the video, I was given a perfect opportunity to test my theory and noticed that, while goalies seem to be slightly better on curls, they are way worse on 5 hole when your player is able to get within extreme range.

Shot attributes, stick handedness, xfactors, they all don't seem to affect this after further testing.

Also, thanks for letting me know my friend, whom I'm literally playing the game with and in a chat party together, is online... I keep trying to tweak my settings for these annoying popups and nothing works.

  • Not every time but enough to raise a few eyebrows. I'd say the odds are about the same as the old forehand NHL 94 method - Obviously the faster you are the better the chances when just crashing the net though.

If you're going in slow it's better to take a 45° angle on the goalie and tap it in backhand under the pad (left hand shot on right side and right hand shot cutting in from the left). A side to side movement is the natural course of action but the pad always seems to lift a hair to let it go under

  • Goalies need a buff, specifically in reflexes and goalie interference calls. As it stands goalies don't have the reflexes to keep up with 85+ shot power/accuracy. As stated by EA_Aljo in the following message the goalie is not reacting (if not fast enough based on shot distance + shot power), instead you are just hoping the puck hits a body part, however there are so many holes, such as five hole, or under glove/blocker etc. that it is almost impossible to be that on top of the puck to "pray" it hits you. Shot accuracy turns into a 50/50 guessing game of left or right. Throw in -% to reflexes with quick release and GOOD LUCK...
