When I play online VS, the game lags and slows down. It feels like the players are skating in molasses. It's not the same game as when I play offline. It's not fun at all.I just bought CAT 6 ethernet cables for my PS5 to the router and my TV as well. I am now directly cabled as before I was wireless.Nothing changed. I also changed my PS5 settings to Performance Mode.I don't know what else to try. My internet is fast at 350 Mbps download speed and 54 MBps upload speed, tested on the PS5.I know this is a common problem. What else can I do to make the game play properly???Thanks,

Don't waste your time with WOC. The game freezes in the loading screen 99% of the time. The game is completely broken. Don't worry though, cash grab HUT will work just fine.

@Wicked_Devil You internet speeds aren’t relevant to how the game, or any game, plays online. Your proximity (ping) to a server, or in this case, your opponent is what’s important. Versus is a peer to peer (P2P) mode and it can be a very poor experience since it is dependent on both yours and your opponents connection. Have you tried playing a server based mode like HUT or WoC?

@scttyg98 I assume you’ve tried the workaround of applying the current online roster within the rosters section? Or are you talking about One/Threes? Try changing your GT pic to a default one. Yes, these issues shouldn’t be on your end to work out, just offering help.

If you take a game like CS:GO (Source engine circa 2011) for example, players can have a wide range of pings and see almost no difference in their experience. That is because the server is authoritative, meaning the server takes all of the commands issued by each player's controller, and it takes into account everyone's pings before determining what actually happened. This is what you will see this play out on your screen.EA just says "to hell with you" if you don't live in Quebec. There are many players who live right next to the North America North East server and have 5 ping. They will win every faceoff, they will poke check you with the swiftness of a god, and they will simply "out-play" you. This is because there's nothing behind the curtain to create a level playing field for players across acceptable pings. Whoever has a lower ping will have a clear advantage.

No, I only play versus with a friend. We both have good internet connections. I don't understand why there is so much lag and slowdown. It's not a little, it nearly unplayable. Today I tried playing with a wired controller and nothing changed. Clearly this is an EA server issue so why hasn't this been solved yet as I've read the complaints from users across many forums. It's beyond frustrating as online play is not fun and I keep losing as a result of the lag.

Online Versus games don't take place on our servers since it uses a peer to peer connection. This means either you or your friend are hosting the game. Onlince Versus games are more susceptible to lag since both you and your opponent will feel a bad connection as it is based on the quality of the connection of the host as well as the distance between both of you. So, if you and your friend live far apart, lag and disconnects are going to be higher.

@EA_Aljo Is there another mode I can play the game with my friend? Why doesn't EA change how VS games are setup on the. backend if lag is a known problem?

The only other mode you could play against each other with dedicated servers would be HUT. If you want to play on the same club, WoC uses dedicated servers also. Hopefully, Online Versus will move to dedicated servers at some point, but for now, connection quality and distance are going to affect lag. A couple hours away shouldn't provide a bad connection by default. Is your friend on a wireless connection? Do either of you or anyone else on your network stream media while you're playing?
