Origin stuck in Offline Mode on Mac

I haven't had any issues with Origin or logging in before, until recently. When I log in, it comes up with this page and I have restarted my laptop (MacBook Air) several times however it hasn't done...

I know this is an older post but I had this problem recently come up on an iMac and I don't see a lot of discussion about Mac solutions.  All was working fine until one day it wasn't.  We'd see the problem you describe as well as the Origin client being stuck in offline mode or report that it couldn't connect with the server (with no internet problems).  We found the specific link below (one of the possible solutions provided by the previous poster) to be the solution.  The Origin software was fine and the Mac was fine too - it was a change to the Mac's network settings that was the issue.  Essentially you're disabling any network proxies that might be enabled in your network settings on the Mac.  In our case it was the SOCKS Proxy that somehow had gotten enabled that was preventing the Origin client app from connecting to the EA server.  Hope you've already solved your problem by now and that this helps someone who's dealing with it now.   

Also, please note the note on the linked page regarding proxy settings to make sure this solutions is right for your setup:

"Proxy settings are used when your Mac® computer is connected to a network that requires a proxy server to access internet.  These can be discarded when your computer is directly connected to the router or the router installed is the default gateway for accessing the internet."

    THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!  I have been stuck for over a month and could not figure out why, I had purchased a new game and couldn't even play it.  Thanks to you it's now working!

    I'm not sure I did it right but I copied the steps in the link and still can't get origin online. I can still play the Sims but I can't update or see the store or anything. When I press "Go Online" it starts reconnecting and then logs out :/ help

      Same here, I followed the steps and my Origin still acts the same way.

        I had the same issue as well. The same thing happened to me so I went to the same place and just clicked on all the proxys that were listed in that section and checked all of them, I clicked ok and then apply. I completely closed that system preferences window. My origin logged itself out . I logged back in and my game was downloading a pack that I had purchased and is online. Not sure but it seems to be working. Maybe this will work for you.

    This is it! It's worked for me two or three times this has happened. Dunno how to prevent SOCKS proxy from reclicking itself in settings, but whatever. Thanks for the tip!

    @LCarte42 I just wanna say THANK YOU for these instructions. Thank you so damn much! I couldn’t figure out what was going on with my iMac. I wanted to scream. Then I found this post and I followers your instructions to the T and when I signed into Origin, I was online and all of my packs and kits that I’d purchased on my MacBook were downloading. You really saved my desktop from being tossed. Thank you again! 💙
