why are the download speeds extremely slow on origin?

Having the same problem while downloading Battlefield1 which restricts my download speed to about 4mb/s, while on steam i can easily get 30mb/s.

Origin is downloading at 70KB/s.. for real? There is always problems with Origin... seriously fix your platform :/

Steam always is downloading at 38MB/s and not a single problem... conspiracy? I don't want to follow guides, this shouldn't happen from the start.

Have you checked if you don't have any download restrictions active in Application Settings in Origin?

mine is slow , only app running is origin by user, no download restrictions. if I use Steam I get 14mbps + Origin is like 355k lol take 3 days to download a game, I would buy BFV but not on these servers. 

Yeah same issue, steam download speed is at 11mb/s im looking at 1.17 mb/s why im on fiber optic cable in california shouldnt be happening.

Can you both try the following steps please@

• Disable all background programs on your system (including Steam). You can also do this with a clean boot
• Temporarily disconnect all other devices that you don't need from your network
• Use a wired connection
• Make sure Origin is accepted in your anti-virus and firewall
• You can also try using Safe Mode Downloading via Origin which is under Application Settings, Advanced

I've had this problem for ages, nothing would work, always downloading at 200 kb/s - 1 mb/s but on steam or anything else I download at 8mb/s +

Last night I made sure steam and any other sort of game client was closed. I then ran origin as admin, and now I'm finally getting 8mb/s downloads on the Origin client.

Might be worth a try to see if it helps you guys.

Tried disabling steam and other background programs over the last 5+ years and nothing worked. I have a 19-21 MB/s connection. Origin RARELY gets 4MB/s. Trust me, I've tried practically everything.

Because EA is so intensely reputable when it comes to releasing half-assed products with the completion through DLC, I feel like I can blame them for this problem, however, my isp is probably to blame as well. 2.5mbps is uh...well I'm not complaining because it forces me to do something productive while I wait, but on Steam I'm sitting at anywhere between equal and 10mbps. 

This can probably be blamed on both EA and the isp for both throttling what you're paying for...althrough you probably aren't paying for EAs bandwidth.
