Question Regarding Anthem's Sunsetting and Modding
What is EA and BioWare's current policy regarding asset file usage from Anthem for use in other games and (even if it is currently restrictive or not) will the policy be updated now that Anthem is scheduled execution at the dawn of next year?
For Context:
I ask because while I didn't have much interest in the gameplay potential of Anthem following its release, I have gained an appreciation for some of the art assets used. Since, Sunsets rarely beget Sequels it would be a shame for all that work to be extinguished when there are many talented Mod Authors and other creatives that can keep some of that game alive. Surely living within another game world, even as a port, under a different IP is favorable to not existing at all?
-Or, at least until it enters Public Domain in the next Century or so.
Which did give me an idea:
Ideally, making the entire IP Open-Source would be a tremendous move and give Anthem (and the Devs who made it) a chance to experience the excitement and fanfare the game severely lacked during its short lifetime. That's just my opinion; I don't have any focus groups or brain trusts that can verify how effective a decision like that would benefit EA and BioWare, but I personally would love the opportunity to explore those assets in new and creative ways.
Thanks in advance to anyone who helps answer my questions.
