- @texastincup Since when can you alter the ball flight with a controller after swinging?
- Texas-Tin-Cup2 years agoNew Rookie
settings/gameplay go down to power boost & spin control..
"allows you to apply extra spin while ball is in the air via the swing stick.."
I'm pretty much old school, in the sense that once the club meets the ball, it's done. That's the shot right there, and however it flies and rolls is the shot I played.
Even 3 click players can adjust the ball in flight though, should they wish to avail themselves of the ability.

I was aware you could add spin... but I didn't know you could control direction. I thought it was solely backspin.
@Noya_WesaI'm a traditionalist as well, once the ball is struck I relinquish control of the balls results. I you are developing a golf SIM I don't know why you would create it any other way.
Maybe we just answered our own question. Though built under the quise of a SIM it was always intended to be just a arcadey game at heart. It is just missing a few clowns and windmills.
@ELF014 I don't see the point of treating the ball as a mini-drone, simply because that's not something we could do on the course.
I might prefer my easier game some days, but adjusting my shot after the fact just doesn't feel right at all.
However, with that said, I also have to add that I will retain my each to their own attitude overall. I fully support the idea of having full on video game mode available in the settings for those who do want it. I just hope they can get the sim game fixed too.
Your clown comment brought this to mind, and I have to wonder, is this the only golf movie the devs have watched? It would explain much about the state of the game...

This is what I was referring too.
As for the drone comment, I agree. It makes me wonder who as a golfer would even come up with this concept?
If you are going to be able to apply spin and direction post shot, they should have included levitating greens that constantly move as well. If your in for a penny... you might as well go all in.
Maybe some free roaming gophers and seagulls that steal balls as well.
I disagree to the statement that 3-click is easier than swing stick in this game. I do play with a game controller but I use the 3-Click method because I prefer it for many reasons. I find that when I play using the swing stick, it's way to easy. No challenge. Also, I like to fade and draw the ball on a lot of my shots, and the way EA has the swing mechanics of the fade and draw with the swing stick is ridicules. The 3-click mechanics for fading and drawing makes much more sense. I agree about making the 3-Clickers have the same options and opportunities as the swing stickers. I just think the game is way more challenging and more fun using the 3-click method than the super easy sting stick method. I use to love the swing stick in the older games like Tiger Woods '14. It was much more challenging. But those days are long gone I guess.
- @MadTiger64 I've seen the 3-click meter move at different speeds. I assume tied to the difficulty setting.
I did try it on my PS5, my settings are at the max... and the swing speed was pretty quick. My issue with it was that there appeared to be a bit of a lag between pushing the button and having it register.
So YES, I can see how 3-click could be seen as being more difficult than using swing stick. Though for me personally when I used it, I found it pretty much a push. But I didn't like using 3-click... which is surprising, since it was all we used for decades.
For myself I have convinced my mind that the swing stick is an extension of my actual swing. I actually feel I stroke my putts... - @ELF014 Yes, I agree with you about using the swing stick feeling like an extension of your swing. Don't get me wrong, I would rather use the swing-stick for playing. However, in this game, EA made it too easy. They need to make it more sensitive. The way it is now, it's almost impossible to miss a fairway. They need to add a difficulty setting or something. Plus change the mechanics of how you fade and draw the ball like they had it in Tiger Woods '14.
