I am sure by now everyone knows I have a love/hate relationship with this game. I love that their is another golf game on the market, but feel it could/should have been so much better.
As was said in the movie the Dirty Dozen.... "They are pretty but can they FIGHT?". This game lacks any teeth.
Any who... I played my regular "check the state of affairs" with the latest patch last night. So let me respond to your insights on the game. IMHO.
whats wrong with this game....
Lots... but 2K is not perfect either, but 2K is much further along in my opinion in creating a good golfing experience.
I would like to say 2K had a head start, but did they? 2K/The Golf Club was released I think in 2014, EA has been making golf games since the 1980's, and this was supposed to have been a complete rebuild, plus it was delayed 13 months so I expected much more.
putting is still bad ("manhole covers" still exists)
I have not had this problem for a few patches now, my putts are struck to die at the hole and I haven't had an issue.
But I still think the putting mechanics are terrible, the putting stroke is weird (seems like an outside to inside swing swiping at the ball), and I hate that the ball is lined up on the toe of my putter face.
the "rng" is out of control
I don't have an issue here as long as you stay out of the overswing area. And I am playing with no specs or skills on my player.
the wind isnt even close to being accurate
I can't comment on this because I feel at times lie angle doesn't even come into play, and yes I have it enabled.
zero consistency
Depends on what you are talking about, but I don't understand how the modeling of their clubs work. Some wedges spin when you don't expect them to, and don't when you do.
lack of communication from -EA- on anything
I think the forum moderators are pretty good. But I agree they could do a better job with information on imminent releases to better promote themselves.
no hotfixes (EVER)
This could just be their development process, that all fixes will be in rolling releases. It also gives them more time to completely test changes. (I am giving them the benefit of the doubt here, not sure how much testing is actually done)
and this isnt even everything i complain about.....
Oh we can always find something if we look hard enough.
