Patch Notes 4.0 Discussion

This is really frustrating. I can’t believe that they still haven’t added turn based 2 player online mode. This is what MOST of us have been waiting for, and I feel like now since we are ignored, we will begin ignoring this game and playing others.  It’s just almost weird that they refuse, absolutely to listen to us or make comments about it.  Their loss I suppose but strange that they think it’s a good idea to keep their golf game a sp only game .  Welcome to 2023 EA. Everyone plays online and against each other so you’re failing horribly at that.  🤨

I'm on PC so can't speak to 60 FPS etc, but if played on a console that would be nice. I see Starfield is coming out in 30fps apparently..eek.

When reading the patch notes I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of fixes. I hope this now frees them up to look at requested items like a replay camera(even a rudimentary one would be nice) and the ability to play against created players by friends and family as AI.

One that worried me when reading the patch notes was the removal of the notch on the swing meter. Not a fan of change I guess lol. Played a couple of the daily tournaments and now like it. I wasn't sure what the removal meant and what we are to do now, but I quickly figured out you only see the swing up to where the notch would have been, and going past that is where you get more power along the risk/reward as it starts to turn red.

The other curious thing I saw was 'TPC Scottsdale: Fix for the caddie being visible while playing holes 17 and 18'. I actually really liked that. Seem more tournament-like and had no idea the caddie reacts to your shots! Maybe there is a better way to put the caddie back, like just off the green but still in eyesight, plus adding this to all courses, at least in tournament modes. I've seen some complain you never see your caddie, and I agree, this could be way to fix that and make it feel more like a tournament environment. 👍

Glad to hear more items are coming to the store! I had my golfer setup to look like he has a Ping sponsorship but decided to change to TaylorMade. Just going through the challenge and hope to get their golf bag. Would sure like to see covers to be able to use like they have for Ping. As well a TaylorMade Tour hat would be great(maybe with TaylorMade on the front and the Stealth 2 on sides ore something) LIKE THIS . Plus adding the Stealth 2 3W to store would be great too. WIth the added items, the store will start to feel more fully fleshed out, which is exciting. I will note that the new additions timer currently says 365 days, which I'm sure isn't correct lol.

For a PC player, I see a lot of positives from the patch.

How can EA continue to neglect fixing prevalent bugs that are affecting all players such as missing challenge rewards and quests not updating after playing career mode?  These are main components to experiencing the game from an offline single player standpoint.  The existing framework should be fixed before adding new features.  Below is a description of the two major bugs that I have experienced on PS5 (others have experienced similar bugs with missing challenge rewards and quests not updating):

⚽ I am missing several rewards for completing sponsor challenges. I completed all 15 stars in the first adidas challenge and the first two under armour challenges but the 15 star rewards were never awarded.  I wouldn’t mind having to replay the challenges if it meant I could retrigger whatever mechanism awards rewards but that’s not possible since I have already received all 15 stars.  I am forever locked out of receiving these rewards without any help from EA.  I have posted about this and not one person from EA has acknowledged these bugs or offered to help. I have been the biggest advocate for your games and only own sports games but it’s disappointing to be treated this poorly as a customer.

🏈 I completed my first season in career mode and won the Tour Championship/FedEx cup. Despite this, the tour championship quests were never updated/awarded nor was the FedEx rankings quest despite finishing season 1 ranked #1. In addition, the commentary/announcers in my second season still refer to me as a rookie and experiencing winning tournaments for the first time despite it being my second season and winning tournaments in the previous season. It’s as if the game never recognized the completion of my first season. I have attached a screen shot showing that I received the PSN ultimate prize trophy for winning the tour championship, which proves I won it (also have the video clip winning it), but the game just never recognized it under quests.

Personally I just don't think there bothered about the community or there rep would have had bigger cahooners and stuck around in the discord, it almost seems like the two big golf game producers are working together and are just out purely for money, totally expected to want to make money, but to make the community pay for an under par (pardon the pun) game is outrageous,  

If they realised that making the games good and listening to the main community gripes they would probably make more, yes they make games that attract many more players, but genuine sports games stick around for ever and attract all gamers at different stages in life, so as far as longevity goes they make money, so are worth getting right.

Like most are saying it is 2023 and most issues or gripes are basically standard things for these type of games, should be in from the start and not expected to be begged for, it ain't rocket science,  implement the basics and let the game build its self and a good player base.

Could go on and on but falling on deaf ears........

Just happy they actually mentioned that they're working on online turn based gameplay!
