Alright, this is absurd. It does not matter how well you play. This game will randomly decide what happens. It seems to happen the better you play so I have become convinced this is actually nerfing players to avoid perfect scoresWell EA Sports… this is a video game. If I want to play a video game and be perfect based on gameplay, that game should not decide I cannot. My play should decide that. Not randomly generated nonsense. You have a sim mode for people who wish to simulate a real world golf experience. Random acts of virtual god may make that “more realistic”. In arcade it’s like a dancing frog. Please stop penalizing those of us who just want to play a video game, and have the game work, like every other golf game ever has. Keep your randomly generated nonsense out of the arcade experience.

While I disagree that the RNG is nonsense, I do agree with the original polster some changes are needed. I see his arguments all the time during play. I play basically with modified SIM settings.I turn as much off as possible with the exception of the putting grids.The reason I believe some RNG is required is because purely using controller feedback makes gameplay too accurate. This is because the controller doesn't have enough granularity as an input device.However in saying this player input should be the main factor in the results of shotmaking. In this game one gets the feeling that RNG has priority.When I play this game more often than not I feel I hit swing and go find my next shot, until I am inside 50 yards of the pin. And then the game is too easy, it's just a matter of a flop or pick shot and a putt.There is little to no strategy when I play now, and I can race through a round in about 20 minutes.Flop and pick shots will stick next to the pin regardless of how fast or sloped the greens are.Give control back to the players based on controller input, tighten up some of the dispersion zones of some of the clubs and fix the ball physics and the game could be great.And allow us to turn off all the menu's that are not essential, as well as the reticule that are currently on the screen.

Or this one…Finesse shot. 60 degree wedge. Full blue arc on the hole, dark patch just past but centred with the hole as it’s uphill…perfect/perfect/straight swing… I think it might go in..but into the air it goes… off to the left about the distance of three of those dark circles for the landing zone and falls into a bunker I didn’t even notice was there because there was absolutely no potential I might hit it. But… I did.

The dispersion needs to go away completely IMO. Having the game dictate where my shot is going makes it more a game of chance than a game of skill. If I want to play a game of craps I'll go to Las Vegas. I don't mind wind variations. I think there could be more of a penalty for shots in the rough and bunkers, that is realistic, but if you set up to play the wind, have a perfect swing and the ball goes in the opposite direction of the wind that is not realistic. Love the game but it could be so much better.

Your frustration is valid. This game would be more enjoyable for more people if it had detailed difficulty sliders like MLB The Show or NBA 2K. The limited difficulty options they provided obviously don't satisfy everyone, and sliders would help in that regard. For example, I would prefer to set how much, if any, randomness I want in the results of my swings.I'm sure that competitive online difficulty is always hard to balance, but that's a separate issue that shouldn't impact single player or casual multiplayer. The difficulty for single player or casual multiplayer should be adjustable to a fine level of detail by the user(s).

Where to start…
Well… for some reason a perfect/perfect/straight swing just bent into 15kpm wind to make sure I hit some water 😂😂😂 literally went off in the opposite direction from which I hit. But… I was like -13 at the time, so -shrugs-
that was the most recent example on the last hole of a round I just finished before I saw your question.

I play this game… a little too much. My goal was to get really good at arcade and then gradually move up to sim… but if I can’t trust the game to do what I input with my controller on Arcade mode… I’m glad I’m not being randomly messed with like that on sim.

I’ve never played a 2K game. I played Rory’s game until they took it down lol.

But that seems about to change as this element is so random and therefor upsetting, I might have to.

That's highly reproducible in the game actually, not random.
With a maxed out golfer and top stats I don't find the random element of shot direction detracts from the gameplay personally. Shots always go basically where I hit them in a way that doesn't feel unrealistic. I know fans of arcady repeatedly hoking out on approach shots won't agree though 🙂.

I have my stats almost maxed out on accuracy and there are at least three holes per round (if I’m swinging well and scoring low) that go completely off the rails where the ball is landing far from any indicators (blue arc or landing zones) without explanation. Not an odd bounce or spin which I accept as “seeming” random.

it’s literally like the game says “if you hit the ball properly it will land here”. So I hit the ball properly and it lands… far away from that.

You may be already, but the way to view the expected landing area is one the size of the shaded area centred about where the blue arc indicates, and noting that variable wind/gusts could be a factor (you'll see the blue live moving about). The ball's trajectory is weighted much more heavily towards the centre of this zone too. This may come down to what constitutes 'far away' for you though.
A video example would be interesting to see if you still feel something inexplicable is happening.

@Ultrasonic_77 I understand and as mentioned above, the ball is flying three times that expected landing area away from that expected landing area.

I have been playing golf games for over 30 yrs. I wouldn’t be commenting at all if it wasn’t absurd. I can also understand that people not playing in arcade wouldn’t notice. It is a difficult game. But the fact is, even if you do everything correctly, this game still decides you didn’t. That is absurd.
