At this point, I doubt we're going to get this on this game. IF they make another game, that's something they will use to sell as something new.
Most probably .
But a basic feature like this should be day one of release

Exactly 💯
Turn based play is not something which EA needs to be focused on providing as it is clear EA is only focused on providing support to their player base. The player base being their shareholders and the focus is clearly only on the amount of the deposits into the shareholder bank accounts. 9 patches later without them adding turn based play or even bothering the tease us by saying it is being worked on any longer. When you go to the golf course to play a round with your friends don't you all tee up together and no one waits for anyone else or obeys the rules of golf by playing in an orderly fashion?
The premise everyone here is making is that EA created a golf sim. It has been pretty obvious this is an arcade game. How much do you expect from wrestling to represent a real sport opposed to an event.
I think we have to accept that those in charge at EA wear white makeup, a red nose and big feet to work everyday.

The Lead Designer who thought it was a great idea to have 16 playing simultaneously certainly didn't have a golf sim in mind.

Hard not to agree with what you said.
I have mentioned before, but it would have been much better to group 16 players into foursomes with turn order and a scoreboard showing all players participating and show highlights when someone in the group makes a great shot.
It would have taken longer to finish, but I think everyone would have gotten what they want.
Plus it is representative of actually playing a PGA event, imagine that.

I dojn't think the OP cares about having a golf sim. They want to play with other people competitively or socially. This is an e-sport bud. Maybe players like you who just care about physics and courses and don't find it boring to play offline by yourselves are the current majority of the community, but you are the severe minority of their potential playerbase in the video game world. EA not only dropped the ball, they seemed resentful and spiteful and killed off any potential for an online community from day 1.
The fact they make us reque every 2 mins to try and find players, is somone at EA raising up two middle fingers at us.

I play mainly online with friends... and when the game first came out I participated in the tournaments but didn't find them them very rewarding or competitive.
I can no longer get my group to play this game. They all think it is a farce to call it a golf game. It is just missing windmills and clowns to describe what it actually is.
I would argue those that care about physics and gameplay are actually the majority of a silent user group... especially in the golf simulation genre.
It would pretty much explain why no one is playing this arcade game.
