Wind speed and direction no accurate

I'm constantly playing sim mode now, but reading the wind I don't understand - so with elevation the colour of the arrow changes from white, orange & red, but the win doesn't change t let you know how severe it is, anyone got info on if this is a bug, or there is a way to read it?
I'll add that reading greens with the above or below works for me, but it doesn't make sense - ok the balls below where I stand, but that doesn't explain the break of the rest of the green, so a light insight into this would be nice too.
I'm getting most of my putts, but some just break differently from the initial above or below reading, even if my swing is clean.
