All currencies lost after update (name changed to “1”) – progress still intact

Hello everyone,

after an PvZ2 update in Plants vs. Zombies 2 mid march 2026, all of my in-game currencies suddenly disappeared.

My player name was also changed to “1”, but all of my plants, worlds and overall progress are still there. So this does not appear to be a new account, but rather some kind of data reset affecting only the currencies.

Approximate missing resources:

Coins: about 80,000
Gems: about 1,000
Mints: about 1,800
Arena Gauntlets: about 20
Seed Packets / Sprouts: about 30,000

I own every plant in the game and have been playing Plants vs. Zombies since the original game was released, so for around 15 years in total. In the early years I also purchased many plants and spent a significant amount of real money on the game.

The issue occurred immediately after updating and launching the game. My Player ID is still the same and all progress is intact, only the currencies are gone.

EA Support has been contacted, but so far I was only offered 5 gems as compensation, which obviously does not reflect the scale of the loss.

I am not sure if they escalated the case to the next level, but so far they only always ask me for partience.

Has anyone else recently experienced the same issue? Were your currencies restored later, or did support provide a proper solution?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
