The biggest problem I have heard about registering your email address is leaving a blank space after the email address which is often put there by your phone's auto fill feature.
Unless you already registered it when it was first tried about 18 months ago.

Auto fill does if you use it for your email address.
Have you checked in your EA account that you have the right email address listed?
I originally had a googlemail address and i had all kinds of trouble when they changed them to gmail accounts.
Perhaps the servers are busy?

Yes, this is done to protect your email address from being used by people with ill intentions as this is an open forum.
@CyberScythes I sort of have the same problem as you. I played the game on both my laptop and android. Both of them used to be able to sign in to the EA account simultaneously for years. However, over the past few months, my android phone actually can't- it just says failed to register just like you but my laptop still can...which is odd as i used the same email address all along. I don't think its the space or auto fill thing that magicdave mentioned as its unlikely my phone has suddenly decide to add a space behind it after all those years. I still haven't figure out why. But I definitely suggest backing up your game on googleplay or any other equivalent app/device.
