@FantastiXxPVZ Thank you for digging into the costume thing. I'm mainly interested in the costumes that are listed as unused on the fandom page and are also in my list: https://plantsvszombies.fandom.com/wiki/Plants_vs._Zombies_2/Concepts/Costumes
I couldn't find any footage of players getting them in a Pinata Party or in the shop etc. but since you have those costumes there must have been a time they were obtainable :/
Not sure where you got the Pepper-Pult image from but Intellectual Games is not a good source. He modded the code to get the costumes and has a lot of videos earning costumes in Pinata Parties that weren't released at that point in time.
Maybe Haem can give us some more insights about the release of old costumes. I've read somewhere that "special event costumes" might make a return someday but this could just be a delay tactic^^

Not sure who that is, but I'll look when I have time or am not playing, lol.

Not sure why they would list Wall-nut, Peashooter, and Sunflower, as those are always events/special occasion for cosmetic, but you don't get to keep them. Also, if they are going to list them, then there are tons they are missing. They should have created it's own category '"Special Event Only."
Also, why Marigold? I have never different costumes for an Almanac and Zen Garden only plant.
- FantastiXxPVZ6 years agoSeasoned Ace
The Fandom site Is outdated. I know for a fact that some of them, if not in a Pinata, have been in the store.
The Puff Shroom Cowboy Hat, Marching Band Hats for Pean Pod, and the Backwards cap for Pepperpult are most likely fan (on Devian Art) made or scrapped.
- HenryThePear6 years agoLegendIMO there are a lot of costumes that are not included in costume cycle. even that torchwood ☹️

Well, that's the concepts/costumes side. The normal costume side has a rubric with special events and whether you got to keep the costume https://plantsvszombies.fandom.com/wiki/Costumes
Guess Marigold is on that list because the texture including the top hat is/was in the code:
Also, when you look up a plant on the fandom site there is a list with the costumes the plant has. For instance, Bonk Choy:
But as you said this might be outdated since this doesn't include the Bonk Choy suit and others.

This is why I needed your help 😉

@PowerToss and @FantastiXxPVZ I can't believe how much effort and research you have both put into this, what has @MAGICDAVESHROOM started?! LOL!
This for me is a fantastic source of information even though I'm very sad at how many I'm missing 😥 As I've only ever not played this game maybe a handful of days a year I can't believe how many I've not got!! Still, it gives me something to aim for 😁
@PowerToss who writes the Fandom page, is it like Wiki where anyone can contribute? I think with your efforts and your skill at making the collection pictures you should make a new official costume page!!
- PowerToss6 years agoNot applicable
@MortStella No idea who contributes to the fandom page but I would guess it is like wiki. If I ever do an update about the costumes I will definitely wait until we've heard from an "official" (Haem) about the costumes. It is funny that it seems like we are missing the same costumes. Maybe you could screenshot your spreadsheet and post it here 😉
@FantastiXxPVZ What I mean with Intellectual Games isn't a good source is for example this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lReN8NA9DoY
He won Laser Bean's suit during the Food Fight Event in 2014 but the only costumes that could be won during that event were the Big Wave Beach costumes. He only could have obtained the Laserbean costume by a) overwriting the pp.dat, b) modding the code (changing some HEX numbers). He is btw the guy you got the screenshot of the Pepper-Pult costume from 😜
That doesn't mean that Laserbean's suit wasn't released later on, though.
3rd January

@MortStella @PowerToss do u guys have the Laser Bean suit? as @FantastiXxPVZ said,it is the prize from Pinata Party.

Ha ha, it's more like a list than a spreadsheet right now, it's nothing like as clever as anything you've done! It's not complete yet but hopefully I'll get it done at the weekend. It's on my laptop though and as its a document I might need to attach it as a file? I'll tinker with it and see what I can come up with 😁
- MortStella6 years agoSeasoned Veteran
@HenryThePear no for LB I only have the cape and the bling necklace.
- HenryThePear6 years agoLegend@MortStella do you got all tile turnips costumes? oh no they are not in costume cycles ☹️

@MAGICDAVESHROOM Thanks!
Here the update of the costume cycle. It is the second week and if you bought all the costumes you would now be 42,000 coins and 255 gems poorer.

From what I understand is Haem was hired later, as she has made reference to "Old Popcap" and decisions by them before her, several times, but yes, still our best resource.
It seems that in your extensive research you have stumbled on a Hacker, but I am NOT subscribed to them. The only Hackers/Modders I am aware I am subscribed to are kGame, Nighty Knight Gaming, and Alien Gurke, because they have been nice in the past and from what I witness, aren't actually hacking their game play, like PvZ2 Battlez (or whatever his YT is named now). The screenshot was downloaded and an old one, but came from a forum. So, I suppose they may have known your reference. On a side note, It is puzzling though as why they would hack a save game and yet it appears in his video, so I'm not sure it was done that way. I did click on some of their other videos and see comments resembling the ones kGame gets "How are you previewing this already?" So, for certain you are right. Also, my showing the Pepper-Pult shows that it was in the game, during a Valenbrainz event time-frame, even it wasn't actually collectible. It may have been scrapped and shouldn't be counted as a missing costume, was my point.
You have shown Sprite Sheets, but how do we know those are current or accurate? Not a good method for Fandom to show Hacked material to prove existence, as they may have been changed or scrapped. Like, for instance the Marigold might not have different color costumes, but may be used in animation to show flashing or something, rather than as a definitive collectible.
- HenryThePear6 years agoLegend@FantastiXxPVZ The Wiki was out of date for a long time. They stated 2 unknown costumes and I had both of it.

I feel your pain. I have paid for all the Early Access Bundles of the New Plants with most of their Level Up Bundles, Yes, Hundreds of Dollars and I still don't have their costumes. It's like a sick joke.
If you played only a handful of days a year, then I imagine there is still alot of content you're missing. For example: Imagine those that used to play the Streakz, get pissed off they changed them, take a break, and then come back to find out they missed out on a ton of new Seasons Plants.

What @MAGICDAVESHROOM is doing is actually the best idea to show the current cycle, as it shows that the cycle is not stone and does change. Also, more costumes ARE being offered again. I wouldn't be sad about this, because what they are showing us that alot of costumes are being made available again. In fact, the interest shown in them could have them pull their heads out of their @$*** and just make this stuff available, as people DO care about it.
Feastivus was very upsetting this go round, as it was THE most stingy event it could have EVER been. It was a blatant cash grab and didn't feel very festive AT ALL! This could have been a great time to offer alot out of cycle costumes for 10g, i.e. It's not game breaking and it would have actually felt in the spirit of the season. Shame on them!
I like costumes but I'm not obsessed with them and I'm a bit concerned about the depth of feeling for them.
If i think it's a good costume, reasonably priced and not for an instant use plant then I'll probably buy it.
I can see the men in white coats trying to catch PowerToss with butterfly nets and him escaping in his bouncy schloss which he has cunningly filled with helium with his huge collection of costumes if he's not careful.
- PowerToss6 years agoNot applicable
@FantastiXxPVZ The way fandom proves existence of costumes is by looking at the texture that is available for each plant. These textures are extracted from the game, so a lot of content that you see on fandom is material from "hackers/modders" https://plantsvszombies.fandom.com/wiki/Plants_vs._Zombies_2/Gallery_of_plant_sprites
Unfortunately, these images can only show that the costume exist/have existed in the code and not whether they have officially been released. This can only be done by asking dedicated players that played from day 1 and this is why we are discussing about the costumes 😉 The other source as you pointed out are the devs and we have to hope that Haem can dig into the costumes thing.
Btw, @MortStella said he did NOT play for a handful of days 🙂
@HenryThePear Unknown just mean those two costumes can't directly be put into a category (store exclusive/pinata party)...both costumes are in the current costume cycle which has been the same for over 1 years.

Nooooo, I've only ever NOT played this game a handful of days a year......I'm addicted LOL!!
I think pvz2 was designed to be addictive from the start with cute characters and amusing sounds and music.
I think costumes are part of this.
Someone was complaining that they hadn't got Aloe ( a very rare but fairly useless plant ) because it was only available for 24 hours.
Players are encouraged to collect their daily "FREE" gems and visit the store for more costumes and daily 5,000 coin seed packets, the point being that they have to visit the store daily to avoid missing out.
