It simply does not work.  I tried it.  Does not work.  There is no way to specify a google + account prior to starting the game then its too late.  I did log into google + on both devices eventually but the new device never did anything but start at level 1.  Lost all my progress.

They should probably at least test this before saying it works.

I also want to say that its very dissapointing that it took nearly a month to get a response.

What exactly happens when you log into Google + on the old device? Don't you get the "Cloud Save" option?

I ran into the same problem, there is definitely no cloud option being offerred for me. I even tried using a app backup/restore, it copies the game with no saved data. When restoring the game to the new device, registering with my Google+ seems to do nothing but restore the trophies and other statistics that have nothing to do with all the levels I've opened up, all the actual game progress, not leaderboards and scores. This game seems to be saved in hidden folders that will not copy, and do not cloud to Google+.

I'm left with deleting the app from my new phone. Since it uses a fair amount of space, and having no interest in trying to unlock all the levels again. The only option to play this game, where I was in game progress, is on the old phone. It could have to do with not registering the Google+ account right away, starting as a guest, maybe?

However, Rovio's cloud save with registration on their Angry Birds Star Wars game worked even though I did not register till I needed to transfer. So PopCap and EA still have work to do if they want to catch up with the competition with being able to transfer, or better yet sync across multiple devices, all the game progress, at any point in using the game.

and what should I do if I have an iPad? My little brother uninstalled the app and after i reinstalled it, found out i had to start from the very beginning... I was at the very last area and waiting for the new one to come with the update and now i just have to do everything again? Thats really frustrating..

Did this and it didn't work for me after a factory reset

I'Ve got the same problem. Used to parallely play on two devices. Always logged in using G+ and could select the one profile i had. Since yesterday the game keeps promting me to create a new profile and start over. Is there any way to recover my saves?

Other games don't seem to be affected as I can still use them on both devices and have no problem playing my saved games using G+.

You can transfer your data to a new device if you sync your progress to the cloud. We have a help article below with steps on how to do that.

Yes I logged into my Google play games account it even prompts me to restore purchases when I open the in game store, but when I hit restore it says "Successfully restored 0 purchases"

So now what?

Try reinstalling it through the Google playstore and if that doesn't work contact EA HELP center (below) and give them your player i.d. number and explain the problem.

Google play and EA have backups of your profiles so recovering them shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Well apparently it is too much trouble.... Despite the fact that the game is recognizing I've previously purchased something and asking me to restore it... And when I hit restore it doesn't restore anything...

I got a reply from ea that says this

"since the game was linked with your Google account then please install the game on new device and log in with the same credentials. Hopefully, you'll get your account back.

In regarding missing premium plants, I'm afraid to inform you that we've no option to add premium plants into account manually. I apologized for the inconvenience caused due to this issue."

So they are saying they cannot, or will not restore any of my purchases whatsoever, they cannot, or will not restore any of my progress whatsoever either.

Which makes no sense to me... How are you supposed to be able to play the same game across multiple devices if the stuff you purchase on one device can't or won't sync to the new device your trying to play on? That means you can't play the same game on multiple devices like they say you can.

So much for getting any of the crap I paid for back in my game... It aggravates me so much I don't even want to play the game now.

@renewed_mind. Did you try reinstalling as i suggested, EA HELP aren't the best tech support and have an annoying habit of kicking a problem back.

If reinstalling doesn't help then you will have to be persistent and contact them again.😱

Yes I did... I even went through the entire process with Google play tech support over chat and they are now having me have a phone rep call me back... They even had me remove all my other Google accounts uninstall again clear the play store data and reinstall the app again and try and it still won't work... So I believe they are going to be refunding at least 14 in app transactions since Electronic Arts refuses to help.

Edit: 

Since my in app purchases were from 2014 - 2016, they are too old for Google to refund "as the funds have already gone to the developer".

They also said that it is up to the developer to make refunds at this point, but they have filed some paperwork of some kind to the Google review team who can or will take action against Electronic Arts if they deem there to be a problem with the application. At which point they will reach out to EA who will probably reach out to me.

I was like yeah they already replied once saying there isn't squat they can, or will do because they supposedly don't have the ability to restore purchases into a new game on a new device, despite Google saying they can.

Which I would have to agree with... You can't play the exact same game, with the same progress and same purchases on two or more devices if none of your progress or purchases are restored to the game you make on the next device you want to continue to play on.

This makes me seriously reconsider any in app purchases from any app, I don't think I'll be buying anything else from an app through the app or Google play, because the developers can say oh so sorry, but nothing we can do about it, and Google won't help or refund the purchases either.

Such a huge clusterfrack, and so annoying!

EA HELP are usually pretty good about restoring content if actual money is involved but obviously not in your case.

Good luck trying to get a refund out of EA or google, i think EA HELP is an indian call center and nobody there seems to have any kind of authority to make refunds (from my own experiences).

If you read the terms and conditions of the Google playstore i think refunds are limited to two hours of purchase.

EA HELP also have a nasty habit of marking a complaint as resolved without actually doing anything or informing the complainer.

I will get EA Blueberry to look into this (usually pokes his nose in every week) but there's no guarantee he can do anything either.
