Honestly, PVZ 3 isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I think PopCap was trying to target a newer generation while still making something OG players could enjoy. The more grid-focused gameplay is different from the older games, but I actually think it can be fun once you get used to it.

The biggest mistake, though, was the art style. Out of the three styles they tried, I think they chose the wrong one. If they had gone with the rough comic-book art style, the game would have felt much more immersive and would have fit PVZ's personality better.

The new ideas were fine; it was mainly the execution and visual direction that held it back. With the comic-style art and a few more elements for OG fans, I think it could've been a much better experience.
