PvZ 3 mechanic idea
As I partly mentioned in the PvZ 3 idea instead of plant leveling I thought you could unlock abilities that you could bring in a level to give you a slight edge (max of 2-3) with a restriction
- rain cloud: creates a puddle in a tile of your choice first one is free after that it costs 50 sun and has a 20 second cooldown
- Coffee bean: gives a plant double attack speed for 8-10 seconds 75 sun and a 25 second cooldown
- tile turnip: create a random tile to benefit the plants first one is free after that costs 25 additional sun and gets an additional 5 second cooldown.
- frost cannon: launches a massive ice block at the closest zombie and 2 other random zombie targets freezing them for 5 seconds than chilling them for 7 seconds costs 100 sun and has a 45 second cooldown
- windstorm: pushes all zombies by 2 tiles and stunning them for 3-5 seconds cost 25 sun and 40 second cooldown
- hammer: deal medium damage to a zombie of your choice has a 45 second cooldown
- solar jackpot: gain 100 sun first one has a 20 second cooldown others have a minute cooldown
- tacobility: give a plant a permanent boost based on its role attacker: 15% faster attack speed defender: 15% additional health Support: 15% bonus effect. First one is free second one costs 50 sun otherwise costs 75 sun and has a 30 second cooldown
Than to balance it out (and I love unpredictable moments) the zombies gain a random benefit during the level so plants are not too strong but cannot trigger until after the first flag so players have time to prepare (also before the level players are aware of the ones that are in play (up to 5 at random))and can only happen either 2-3 times in between each flag. (2 if there is a natural effect 3 if there isn’t)
these are different than affects like meteor rain or water surge because this only benefits the zombies
flashbang: 4 random plants are stunned for 5 second’s
Acid rain: plants in the area of the rain deal half damage have 30% lower damage and take double damage for up to 30 seconds
Heal bomb: health bombs drop down on random tiles healing zombies or repairing damaged armor parts
heavy wind: zombies in the first three tiles are boosted forward
cursed armor: a random zombie gains x3 health but moves 75% slower
smoke screen: the entire screen is filled with fog for 12 seconds
Grave ambush: graves spawn and if graves are already on the field zombies spawn from some of those graves
Screendoor wall: a screen door zombie spawns in all lanes
Flood: random tile(s) become flooded
animal swarm: a swarm of zombie animals spawn
Brain moon: all zombie move and eat faster for 6 seconds
darkness moon: all zombies in the first 5-6 Columns transform into random non-boss zombies (can only occur after the second flag:
Skeleton ambush: 3-5 random skeleton zombies types spawn from out of the ground
Frosty winds: chills all plants in that lane for 8 seconds and
cursed banner: summon a cursed banner zombie in 3 random lanes
Rocket barrage: 3 rockets deal heavy damage to 3 random plants
solar drain: the player loses 50-100 sun
tidal wave: all plants are pushed 1 tile back and all zombies are pushed 1 tile forward
Time rush: the game moves at x5 speed for 10 seconds
