You were caught and admitted to cheating, why should we take your claims of records with any credibility?

In the real world, in sports, if someone is found to have cheated, they have all their previous records and medals invalidated and taken away, and in some cases even the history books are changed to no longer list them as winners.
Why should this not apply to you? If you cheated once, how do we know you didn't cheat in the past?
