I figured it might be nice to list the abilities/variants that might need a slight tweak to balance it with it's opposite ability. Here's some examples: Shuck Shot vs ZPG Shuck Shot does 100 damage...

Now I haven't unlocked all the Cactus variants but I have yet to find one that does as much damage as DeadBeard with a Shark laser. Now hear me out. There isn't a single cactus I have that does 32 damage as base. My elemental cactuses actually do around 18 on crit shots. I just got the Jade Cactus yesterday and I was impressed with her being able to do 26-28 damage per shot and that her shots do explode upon contact. Then I tried DeadBeard next match and stop being impressed.
Uum have you ever played the Zen-Cactus? The Jade-Cactus is my favourite so far. Good damange, high fire-rate and more health as shark bite. Last point is something you didn't consider in your comparison at all. you need at least 5 (slow reloading) hits to vanquish this one. Apart from that, the Cactus can use mines, a very underrated ability. I do a good amount of kills with them, something any pirate lacks. But I'm with you that pirates are easier to play and their drones seam to have a very strange hitbox.

Yes tried the Zen-Cactus the other day. She's pretty nice but her damage is odd to work with. It'll take some time getting use to. 5 shots and they go up in damage (20,30,40,50,60). What I do like is that no matter where you hit that damage will stay the same so no need to focus on head shots. What I don't like is the inconsistency with damage. Granted if you land all 5 you wreck anything. So practice will make her a scary thing to fight.
Today I tried the Camo cactus and was blown away with how incredibly hard she is to use. Her long range zoom is a joke and how slow that cursor moves is awful. It also takes her maybe 1.5 secs to zoom in? While the Pirate it's a click of the button. Worst her spread up close is the worst imaginable. Shotguns from the pirate don't even have that spread. Now sure she can do 60 damage per crit shot (30 for body shots) but it is hard to land those from afar thanks to the slow moving cursor and I have my mouse speed very high. Worst there's a delay between shots, 5 rounds per clip and a long reload. I understand it if this thing was doing say 50 body damage and 100 crit or 75 crit. (meaning 3 head shots to kill any zombie) but as is, this is pretty terrible.
I can use 3-4 shots from the shark laser to kill most plants (35x3=105 or 34x4=140) while that gun has 12 rounds per clip and a speedy reload.
