Well, I hate to offer this up as another option as it might require buying a headset with mic. Currently the VoiP audio comes through the headset with mic if you set it to Default Communications Device while the game audio comes through the monitor if you have that set to Default Device.
Also, I'm using a separate sound card for my headset/mic while using my video card's sound through hdmi to monitor.
So if I just want to not hear people, I can just take my headset off.
