Hot Rod Chicken quest bug

I encountered a game bug when playing the Hot Rod Chicken quest today. To be more specific, this occurred when I was completing the final wave of the mission where you have to destroy 15 crates.

After failing a couple of times with the Cactus, I decided to use the onion to get an aerial view of the map and hopefully get them all within the time limit that way. I succeeded, and was still controlling the onion at the time I shot the final crate. The screen then went black and all I could see was my crosshairs. After my onion ran out of energy, the game remained in this state as I regained control of the Cactus. I could move about but the screen was still black and I could only see my crosshairs. I did not receive the reward for completing the quest.

I reset the game, and fortunately the quest was active again, and I was then able to complete it and get my reward. I did use the onion again, but I started it at the beginning of the mission so that it would run out of energy before the round was over. I also made sure to save one crate to destroy as the Cactus, and that worked fine. It appears using the onion in the mission works fine, but if you are controlling the onion when you destroy the final crate, the game gets bugged.
