Is It Possible For Microsoft To Save The Shooters?

I checked out this video earlier today and was somewhat intrigued by it. Basically the video covers and discusses whether microsoft will make it possible for a Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 3 to be made, or it could even save the Plants vs Zombies franchise overall. Microsoft and Xbox recently purchased Activision and Blizzard and all this could indirectly have an impact on the Plants vs Zombies franchise.

This information is quite hard for me to explain overall, but watch the video for more information anyway.

Hopefully this is somewhat exciting news. I made a post just the other day about how the shooter franchise could be improved in the future, so hopefully this gives us a chance of seeing a new shooter in the future.

Cool, bye now! 🙂

  • @TheSprinter85 It could be interesting as there are many quality teams at Microsoft that could pull it off.

I pray they don't look at Bfn and say that the series is unprofitable and not just that they released a bad game.

If there is a gw3 they should mainly just ignore bfn and focus on building from the framework of gw 1 and 2.

It shouod avoid console exclusiveness because the series simply isn't big enough to survive on one console.

Really hope they just announce something either way as all this waiting doesn't help the community

  • I saw this last night as well. Glad you posted it!

It certainly could work and if EA and Microsoft already have a deal, then it's a definite possibility. I still can't imagine them not making a new shooter when so many people want one and are ready to play. GW is old enough now (8 years), that some of our fellow PvZ shooter players that were teenagers then, could play the new game with their own kids soon!

I don't use the PC version of this service, and would likely just buy GW3, but having it on the service would be huge. So many more people could play, but they have to avoid the pitfalls of GW2's and BfN's launch, and give us a solid product from day one.

So yes, bring us a GW3, put it on these game pass subscriptions and let's go!

  • Well, I watched the video thoroughly and while I did not understand all of the information, I at least got the basic idea and understand that Microsoft could have a say in saving the shooters as a whole, especially as it is always on Game Pass.

If EA does not make any attempt to save the Plants vs Zombies franchise and/or if we are not going to get updates or a new shooter from EA, hopefully Microsoft could have an impact and make a new shooter title a reality due to this.

I believe this is the way that Xbox Game Pass works. If you own Xbox Game Pass, which is a subscription service (like Xbox Live, PlayStation Plus or Nintendo Online), any games on Xbox Game Pass can be downloaded and played for free while you own the Game Pass. If your Game Pass expires, you can either extend it or you can buy these games at full price (or at a discount if it is on a sale) and you will be able to play these games whenever you want, even without Game Pass, and you will keep any progression that you made while you owned the Game Pass. This could be an effective strategy as players can try out a new shooter while they have the Game Pass, and then if they are satisfied with it, they may end up purchasing it so they can play at any time, even without the Game Pass.

There may be some downsides to this method, although if EA basically lets this franchise go, I do at least hope that Microsoft can do this and we can still get another shooter!
