- @chompchomf I place it on zombies that need to be revived so if someone is trying to revive the Potato Mine vanquishes them
- @Cameroid07 That's some creative way to use it, but it's still useless against a good player. They can just shoot the potato mine.

I like to put it near chokepoints, fairly often players will be focused on the firefight and won't be looking where they're stepping.
@chompchomf Do you think they need a buff? If so, what would you go for? Bear in mind decreasing their visibility may result in them being frustrating to play against. - @chompchomf The best way to use them is to place single ones around corners or as a setup for choke points, I’ve found that it catches people off guard much more in high action matches
Like @Cameroid07 said, you can also place them on vanquished zombies or place them on roofs and vantage points so they’re in for a surprise when they try to get the high ground
The visibility of the potato mine (its telltale red light) is balanced out by giving more attentive players the advantage, how Cactus now gets four of them, and how she can place them literally anywhere she’s standing in seconds
(The Cactus ability I think needs a buff is Petal Propeller but that’s just me) Apart from chokepoints, I've seen player flying up to campers and setting mines behind them. Elevate mines so they won't suffer to splash damage. Infiltrate. Cameo reveals location, so no point of camping in one place for too long.
I think it depends on the mode really. I like them for defense in TT. Choke points and around corners works, also on dirt piles and in more discrete areas like corners or behind statues in bases in TT. The placement has to be pretty hidden because of that shiny red light or just somewhere that gets super busy so the zombies aren't able to take in details as well.

How is it useless? It's a skill that can 1-shot almost every character. It can be used to greatly create map control and ofcourse as others stated put it near chokepoints. The only thing I don't like is that you can easily see it with its red dot on top. In GW1+2 the mines didn't have this I believe.
I LOVE the potato mine. If you use it correctly, you can make so many extra kills!
For example: Place them on a summoning thing, arround corners, on the position you are sniping from (to prevent super brainz jumping in your face), and some other uses.
It can be hard sometimes, and maybe a bit weak, but NOT USELESS AT ALL.
@chompchomfPotato mines do their job. In fact, in i think there Arming time is reduced and Blast radius is slightly bigger than GW. They just require some creativity to get the best results. They are pretty good in places players least expect them, and work best when players are distracted.
They also aren't too bad for protecting Cactus when you are trying to stay in one spot.
I would say that this can vary: there are some modes where they almost do no good for you and some modes where potato mines are very effective. In Turf Takeover, placing them in the objective or close to the payload are the best locations (this is especially good if you are on the defending team). In Surbination, place them in some of the objectives as you go from one to another, but spread them apart for best results. In Gnome Bomb, place them on the zombie tombs as it might vanquish any zombies that are trying to defuse them if not destroyed.
As of for other modes, they are not as effective but randomly placing them every so often as you go can net you free vanquishes, especially if there are no other zombie teammates to revive the fallen one, but at a minimum you will get XP for getting a vanquish this way, and can help your team push through as there will be less zombies to fight.
In any mode, I would suggest placing some of them as soon as you can if you are at maximum capacity of 4, as they take half a minute to recharge just 1. Remember to try and always spread potato mines more so that zombies destroying your mines are less likely to destroy all of them. Placing them where a battle is happening can really benefit you and your team if they happen to blow up some zombies.
Potato mines are one of the most damaging abilities, if not the most, that a plant has, so try to utilise them if and when you can.
