Lets fix Chomper
Alright Chomper needs some work, since he's the only melee class the Plants have and I feel they need a stronger close range offense character. A Chomper should be feared, atm he's just one huge crit...

Yes, he's weak while eating/digesting, but he's scoring a kill on a player who can't be revived, that's a big deal.
About the only change I would suggest, which like another has said, if he's gooped a target, make it quicker to eat/digest them, and that's about it.

I'm actually the one who said that hahaha. See the reason Hot Rod Chomper isn't affected as bad is the speed boost he receives once finishing his digestion, it's very effective to get out of danger. I still think damage reduction would be nice so he has more survivablity especially if he needs to put a dent into taking over the graveyard in Herbal Assault. The plants really need something for that mode.
With the Cheesy Goop the fire and power chomper were capable of annihilating 3-4 zombies at a time and if there was one left over, you burrowed and took care of him. Easy 5X streak.
For the bite chompers, they could bite one zombie down, burrow and eat the other. It takes a long time for a toxic and especially chomp thing to drain a zombies HP with regular goop. I'm not even sure Chomp Thing can take out an all-star unless he follows up with a spiky weed.
Please bring back 30 DOT goop.

The plants need a melee bruiser, not a buff to Chomper.
For anyone who has played League of Legends, I think the Plants need someone like Maokai. For those who haven't, he's basically a high hp bruiser with point blank AoE dmg (centered on him) who can travel quickly to a target (it's kind of like the Chompers burrow) and roots them in place for a second before reappearing near them and starting to fight. This would actually be a fun mechanic/character to play.

Exactly why I made this thread. We don't have a melee bruiser class for the Plants. So the idea behind it was to buff the Chomper to fit into that role. Although in my OP it gives ideas on how to do it, not that they should incorporate all of my suggestions.
I think this is almost an entirely horrible idea because that would make the chomper horribly over powered. I have seen, myself included chompers decimate the zombies team when played smart. Increasing damage per bite to 40-50 is a terrible idea because his attack is naturally fast and can dish out damage easy and quick. Increasing the bite chomper damage would mean increasing the spray chomper damage which is already powerful. Then take into account the metal chomper. Should he be doing 65-75 damage? No.
I dont think he should take less damage or be invulnerable because it nearly removes the need to be very strategic with the chomper. You need to choose when you should swallow or bite to death.
Chomp Cannon does 100 damage right in the face and 40-50 in splash damage so that is plenty awesome when you know how to aim it.
Health is perfectly fine.
Good is meant to hold, its a utility not a damage attack.
The only think I agree with is being gooped should decrease swallow speed, but only for purple good, not super sticky. Also, only imps should be swallowed extremely quickly.
Chompers are assassins, be sneaky and pick your targets. I normally stalk the respawns the best I can forcing them to focus on me and dodging between all obstacles.
