Lets fix Chomper
Alright Chomper needs some work, since he's the only melee class the Plants have and I feel they need a stronger close range offense character. A Chomper should be feared, atm he's just one huge crit...
It's a mistake to simply compare one class to another. As this is a team game and the overall team balance is the core of the game.
I've had plenty of games where the losing team had the most vanquishes and streaks. Because in the end it does not matter how many people a sniper takes out if he does not go for the objective. And even if the Engineer deals less damage than certain classes, his splash damage can easily go into the hundreds once he secures an elevated position. Not to forget how useless direct hits are when the target is behind cover (which effectively brings down the DPS from direct hits to 0 while the splash from the engineer still deals damage).
It's a constantly changing environment where an amount of classes overpower other classes if played right. It's about movement and positioning. Strategic advantages, and not simply straight forward 1 on 1 shootouts.
Or to add something to the topic: What is the use of more DPS from a scientist, when the sunflower behind a corner he wants so vanquish, is protected by a burrowed Chomper? Not to forget the psychological aspect of it once he got eaten, but still wants to take out that flower. But maybe an engineer now noticed the Chomper...

Most of the time both sunflower and chomper will lay dead in 2 seconds. If the scientist starts shooting unspotted can easily kill 3 plants and teleport away safely
The scientist cannot harm a burrowed Chomper.
