Oh No! Failed to retrieve your saved data!

I have Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 on the Xbox One. And now, whenever I start up the game now, it says, "Oh No! Failed to retrieve your saved data!" And all I can do is press A for OK. When I do that, it then says, "Oh No! Are you sure you want to proceed with no saving?" And now it gives me the option of A for Yes and B for No. If I press B for No, it sends me back to the "Oh No! Failed to retrieve your saved data!" But if I press A for Yes, it starts the game. However, it starts it up at the tutorial. And the other thing is that my progress does save. Everything I do - all the experience I obtain and the packs I buy - it saves.

It's just annoying though that every time I start up the game, I have to redo the tutorial. Also, whenever the tutorial ends, the game automatically switches me to the Citron character. In fact, after I complete any mission or match, the game sends me back to the Backyard Battleground as the Citron if I was a plant in said mission or match and the Imp if I was a zombie.

I have a feeling that it has something to do with me retrieving my old data from Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 1 (which I played on the Xbox 360 and PS4, not the Xbox One, if that makes any difference). I have tried deleting my saved data for the game, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and even factory resetting my console (which caused me to lose my saved data for all my single player games.

I was just wondering if there is a fix for this or if you guys at EA know if this problem and are actively trying to release a patch that fixes it. Any response from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I have a fix for this from EA online support this works!

Step 1 TURN ON XBOX ONE

Step 2 SIGN IN YOUR XBOX PROFILE

Step 3 GOTO SETTINGS

Step 4 GOTO ALL SETTINGS

Step 5 GOTO NETWORK

Step 6 GOTO ADVANCED SETTING

Step 7 GOTO ALTERNATIVE MAC ADDRESS

Step 8 SELECT CLEAR

THE XBOX PROMPTS YOU TO RESTART AT THIS POINT SIMPLY SHUTDOWN THE XBOX USING THE CONTROLLER

Step 9 UNPLUG THE XBOX POWER PACK (Once the Xbox has turn off, leave the xbox turned off for at least 2 minutes)

Step 10 PLUG THE XBOX BACK IN THE PSU LIGHT WILL GO FROM ORANGE TO WHITE

Step 11 WHEN THE LIGHT GOES WHITE TURN ON THE XBOX

Step 12 TRY PVZ ALL SHOULD NOW ALL SHOULD BE WORKING

I dont think it has anything to do with imports. Are you seeing the little taco on the bottom of the screen ever? The taco shows you are saving.

Go to the world options in the HUB, then it should save. Thats an easy test to see if its working or not

I had EA tech support from India (x3) and Ireland (x1) on the phone with me trying to figure this out...
They tried everything from rebooting the XBox One to deleting the gamertag profile and reinstalling the game on the console using a wired rather than wifi connection.... NOTHING WORKED!
Wasted hours on this until the following came to me while having supper:
PLAY A GAME OF PVZGW1 using the gamertag in question AND THEN immediately GO PLAY A GAME OF PVZGW2 with the same profile... the error miraculously disappears!!!
It looks like the game gets confused as to which profile should be used (GW1 or GW2) ... I was even able to import 100% of my GW1 characters into GW2.

Dear Jenni,
I have GW2 on PS4 and having almost the same problem. I said almost because only once in 10 times the game opens correctly.
it works properly when I see the sunflower in the right bottom of the openning screen when in the meantime "futureisbora is connecting to EA servers" appears on the up right of the screen) but this happens very rarely and in most cases I dont see the sunflower on the right bottom of the screen while futureisbora is connecting to EA servers appears.
so whenever I dont see the sunflower, I understand I will get the caution: failed to retrieve saved data and start the game back from the tutorial - quite annoying!
once I was ranked 90 or so and after receiving one of this warnings I lost all my rank and started back from rank 1 whereas my other saved data were not lost - very confusing!

Hi

SOrry I have this issue on PVZ garden warfare 1 and 2 on Xbox One both worked perfectly until today now neither game will retrieve save file.. I have tried resetting the Xbox one power button 10 secs and uninstalling and reinstalling the games.. I was just wondering if there is a fix for this or if you guys at EA know if this problem and are actively trying to release a patch that fixes it. Any response from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I did have a call with EA support via the support chat but they were not able to shed any light on the issue..
