Definitely understandable, I apologize.

When you access the world map, you can select 3 game types (Online Cooperation/ Offline without AI and Offline with AI). If you want to play with a friend, son, etc, locally, and with only one PS plus or Xbox Live account, you need to select one of the offline options, your son will need to sign in with a PSN or Xbox Live for players on Xbox platform - this will not allow you to play online multiplayer.
NOTE: If you and a friend / family member want the split-screen online multiplayer, both will need an active PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription.

How was this resolved. I have had the same issue. I did change the mode on the globe icon which seems to work, however how do you then play stuff like team vanquish? Alls the split screen seems to do is allow to walk around without choosing any modes
How do you enter the offline mode, I do not get the option of selecting offline, I have play, and then news, updates and future plans
