Re: [PC] Plants vz Zombies - "We could not activate on this computer"

The PvZ: Game of the Year Edition I purchased is asking for a product key. Where should I look for it?

    Hello, All

We wanted to follow up on this one. Can you confirm if you have followed the following steps to see if these resolve the error?

    Delete EA License Files:

    • Make sure the EA app is closed.
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services" (without the quotes) into the new Window > ENTER
    • Enable View Hidden Files and Folders
    • Delete all files in the "License" folder.

    Please clear your temp files:

    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time
    • Into the new window, type or copy & paste: "%temp%" (Without the quotes.) > hit "ENTER"
    • Now your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Local\Temp" folder. > Delete all files and folders in it.
    • (If some files or folders can't be deleted, reboot and try again.)

Log back into the platform you play on, repair the game, and launch again. If you get the same error, please post the following

    • Attach the EA App Error Report ID Here
    • The EA app logs can be found in C:\ProgramData\EA Desktop\Logs & C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\Logs
    • Screenshot of your give still giving the error(s)

I deinstalled Origin and installed the EA-App.

But the problem still exists: When I am told to activate the game and put in username and PW, the system tells me they are wrong (but I use them to log on to the app the the forum).

If I choose "create new account" I am told, I was offline, however.

Same if I choose to put in a serial number

Same, also when i repair and open the game again, it creates the "71592.dlf" file again in the "License" Folder.

  • Hey! Just to say that I'm still unable to play Plants vs Zombies GOTY edition since the EA App replaced Origin (we are the 17th of march 2024), even though I've tried multiple times the fixes mentioned. Even some fixes as changing the language that did work before don't work anymore.

Hope you guys don't forget us !

    @IGNOR4NCE_HF

This is still being looked into with different teams as older titles are getting similar errors:

As of now, below are the steps that should resolve it but may not be for everyone! The idea is to get rid of all files relating to the game from the PC, so the download provides a fresh install with no older files within the registry or documents.

    • Your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Local\Temp" folder. > Delete all files and folders in it.
    • (If some files or folders can't be deleted, reboot and try again.)
  • I uninstalled the game. Installed it again changing the language to English. It works !!! Uninstalled again and changing the language to French, and : IT WORKS !!

I am having the same problem. Things I've done in the past to make it work are no longer working. I really love this game and am very sad that I can't play it anymore.

Hi @mangomerle, So, deleting all of the folders and files from the steps in this thread did not work?
