Re: Seriously needed nerfs/buffs in PVZH

Chomper: 2/1, When played: Destroy a Zombie here with 3 strength or less. -> 0/1, When played: Destroy a Zombie here with 3 strength or less.  This gets +1 strength for each health that zombie had.

I really like this idea.  While I wouldn't mind changing the Chomper to match it, I equally wouldn't mind having a new plant that has this ability.

you are missing the entire idea of the game.
a game must have strong and weak cards, thats what makes it interesting, if anything that annoyed you got nerfed the game would go in the trash bin.
the game is well- thought card-wise, the only thing i'd change is the block system, the "luck" of it has too much effect on the game.

It's funny. I generally see the players as plant or zombie players. But hearing freeze decks need tweaking.... when zombies have gravestone deadlies.... I mean, pot meet kettle? Neither are OP. Both are super annoying to play against, but what isn't annoying to play against when it's beating you?

These threads overall are silly. It's way too soon to be talking balance. We've barely started making fringe (like the mill) decks at this point. The difference in rank, cards, and experience of the players is also a huge factor that never gets taken into account. Given the right circumstances, all the cards are op.

We also aren't taking into account rng and initial draw. Both are factors in the win. I mean bad card draw can leave you wanting...

From what I've noticed, most of the time people just don't want to change their decks to match threat, they just want to change the game to make their deck stronger

I agree with Daal here, way too many threads about "nerfing cards" and not enough about actual strategies, innovation and constructive discussions.

My favorite thing to do in this game (and any CCG honestly) is to build decks around cards no one seem to use or "find good" and build a winning strategy with it, why aren't more people doing that and posting their ideas and thoughts? Getting old to always find almost nothing but "change this card that keeps beating me!" threads.

Here's hoping for a bit more diversity in the near future!

    Cheers

OK, here are a bunch of cards I feel are underused/underpowered and ways to use them:

Trashcan Zombie: Buff him up with Lunchbox on round 4 or Vitamin Z on round 6 as The Smash to deal 3 damage or 5 damage without hesitation.

    Cellphone Zombie: Valkprof OTK :P

Brain Vendor: Combine with Unlife of the Party with good card draw as Prof brainstorm

Sage Sage: Combine with Bananasaurus Rex in a Ramp deck as Chompzilla

B-Flat: Combine with Weed Spray or The Chickening as either The Smash or Electric Boogaloo to remove all weak plants, then to destroy a stronger plant that's left on the board

Firefighter: Combine with Zombot 1000 as Brain Freeze or with Zombot Plank Walker as any Sneaky hero.  Works well with any Gravestone zombie with the
    "when revealed" ability, too.

Smoosh-Shroom: Use it to counter Overstuffed Zombie by producing extra Sun as Rose.  Also works OK with Night Cap in a mushroom deck.

Smashing Pumpkin: OK, out of all of these cards, this one is the only one that probably needs a buff, because Three-headed Chomper is literally, LITERALLY this but better.  I can't think of a single way to use this trash, but give me ANY other card and I could at least think of one way to use it, but this?  I guess since its a Squash, you can get it from mayflower as a non-Solar hero, but...still, why would you want it in the first place?

The thing is, Smashing pumpkin was a 7/6 at one point, which is great, but Popcap/EA decided to nerf it.  Why?  Because it had above average stats?  Surprise Gargantuar has above average stats and its a tank, like Smashing Pumpkin, so why can't Pumpkin have above average stats

Yeah a prof/valk just kicked my *. It was pretty great to watch. I was running my troller flare deck and walked right into it.

I wasnt mad, i was amazed. My troller flare and C.C decks are both very strong, but i get beat by clever play and counter builds enough to know that they both 1. Do, in fact, have counters (my cc deck is actually a good one to profvalk); and 2. Aren't as overpowered as people think. Just like some of the other high level decks.

Again, i think the main problem is the middle ground of the game. You've got just enough cards to pull some surprisingly strong turns for the win, whereas at high level, every turn could be a massive swing in momentum. It very hard to gage the balance as the game still builds players and decks start filling out.

As you've noted throughout, many of the cards aren't op, they just synergize well with others and help fulfill win conditions. Others that are considered weak do the same (as you have also considered) meaning are still figuring out ways to make decks work.

Again, it's just to soon to call balance out.

Smashing pumpkin is a basic set card. One that any new player has access to. Like in any CCG/TCG, it's not uncommon to see basic cards being plain weaker versions than other set's cards. In this case, you compare it to a legendary. Of course the legend is better. Should there never be a better 6/5 plant for 6 sun? You are right that there is almost zero point in playing with the pumpkin when you get a bigger collection, but those cards are there for the "new player experience" and, like it or not, have an importance in the game.

  • I kinda agree with what you said about the beginner's experience.  But I just don't understand why it can't be a 7/6, because there was nothing wrong with that.  A pointless nerf, just like Party Thyme becoming a 2/1.
