@KnowsNoLimit I don't think they should give it out as a reward for max rank in GW 2. I get that it's difficult to achieve max rank in this game so why not give people who do that their own reward? There's most likely going to be DLC so the max rank will increase so it's hard to do that now, but maybe after a few characters are released. Throw Unicorn Chomp in Hero Showcase every so often so that everyone has a chance to reach max rank in this game and that is fair enough in my opinion. He's a unicorn, he's supposed to be a rare sight!

@WaxHalfling I agree he should be rare, but no reason that reaching Max rank in GW2 can't give people the Unicorn Chomper and something else.

I honestly thought the Hero Showcase idea would of shut the cry babies up, it's an awesome compromise. People get to play the Unicorn Chomper, max him out and then decide if he's worth attaining rank 313 for or not.

If they do go back on their word, where it looks like they will.

Make a poll asking rank 313 players what would they accept as an acceptable reward for reaching such a high rank if they give out Unicorn Chomper. That way you will still show that you some what care about your loyal players and people will feel a lot less annoyed with you.

@KnowsNoLimit Idk I think having people who have been grinding super hard to get Max rank on GW1 and then all of a sudden say "jk you can just max out on GW2" sounds like a good enough reason not to go back on their word...especially since Gary gave an early warning beforehand long before the UniChomp was announced that there would be a great reward to those who decide to hit Max rank in GW1.

I don't have a problem with the hero showcase though, if anything it gives people who were questioning wether he was worth it a chance to decide wether or not he is. By all means, make him a showcase. But it feels a pretty deceptive to go back on their word on this one...

I completely understand them wanting to please a lot of players and them giving players an entire year to earn UniChomp seems more than reasonable. But there's no way they'll be able to please everyone...

Well the entire point of the chomper is that he's a loyalty reward. If you take that away, then the loyalty reward program kind of falls apart. Loyalty rewards were promoted for months before anyone even knew what we would be getting, just that we should try our best to hit 313. It's fair to release it as a hero showcase character periodically so that everyone has a chance to reach max rank, while still keeping it exclusive as to not tear apart the whole loyalty reward program that they set as a thank you. It's not some super strong overpowered character that everyone needs, it's a unique novelty item and that's the whole point of it. I guarantee you a majority of people who want it given to them just want it so they don't feel excluded. Chances of them playing it past adding to their overall level are pretty low seeing as how it won't be exclusive or special anymore. Releasing it in the showcase so that everyone has a chance to hit max level is a very fair solution.

@MoonLiteWolf Thing is every stream I have watched their point of view on the Unicorn Chomper keep changing. It went from "no way, he was meant to be a loyalty reward to those who stuck with us and reached Rank 313" to "we are now thinking of other ways we can make the UC available".

This feels like the Aquafina and Cheeto's promotion characters all over again. People could only get them by buying their products and receiving a code to unlock the variant, but enough people complained and eventually it was given to everyone,

I honestly expect them to go back on the word on this one far sooner then the intended Feb 2017 cut off date. Which sort of makes sense because not everyone played GW1 or wants to it when GW2 is now released. However I would like them to take the most up most care when doing this and try to involve the rank 313 players in a poll with what they think would be cool to have for sticking by them and going the extra mile when they really didn't't have to.

@KnowsNoLimit I do remember them going back on their word for the Cheetos thing but to be fair that was a promotional item and a very hard one to obtain at that. Eventually those products wouldn't be available anymore and even so, there were many countries or even states who couldn't find them at their retailer anywhere. So it wasn't really fair from the start...

I do have faith that they will consider keeping their word and I'm sure it's something they've been talking about for awhile. I'm sure even UniChomp it's self was talked about for awhile before even being released as a loyalty reward. But it'll probably just end up being a majority vote thing... ☹️ i just hope they consider how important keeping their word really is...

@Zaheen1337 they aren't loyal at all if they are leaving for a silly reason of being late to the party for a reward...I'm certain they will reward loyal players of GW2 too but to say that people would just up and leave the community simply because they missed the boat on something, just seems disloyal to me.

I mean, if they go back on their word and release Unicorn to everyone, they will upset and risk losing their loyal players.

You might then say they're not loyal for leaving, but that's your opinion. 🙂

@Zaheen1337 oh it appears i did misunderstand lol i thought you meant the people upset the GW2 only players about it. But yeah anyone who leaves because of this topic obviously wasn't that loyal from the start lol but I just meant they'd lose trust of some players. And trust is something that could greatly motivate a community

Exactly, like you if that trust is broken I'm not going to forget. I have no issue with anyone else getting it, heck I spent hours, days and weeks helping friends giving tips on how to get it. So if they plan on giving it away like hot cakes then, like you I won't be pleased.

Hero Showcase will allow players to max the character and earn that rank, but won't give them the character. I was hoping that we could distinguish between the two forever 🙂

Like you guys have said trust is invaluable, once broken it's nearly impossible to get it back.

This isn't a matter of who should we get what, it's a matter of principle.

Will the Unicorn Chomper be available some other way before the original 2017 cut off date?? most likely.

However be it as it may, you can still keep people's trust if you treat your loyal players with the utmost respect about it.

the issue here is, they called it a LOYALTY reward, and it's nothing of the such, attaining rank 313 is NO MEASURE of loyalty to Garden Warfare.

The leveling system in GW1 was awful, and pointless past 110 odd once you unlocked all the variants for each class.

Scenario 1: one player ranks upto 313 i a month for the reward, total play time... 72 hours... is that person loyal? no.

Scenario 2: player plays GW1 for 300 hours but stopped at Rank 110 because there was no need to go further and they just wanted to enjoy the game fully... are they loyal? yes.

the Unicorn Chomper should be made available for all those who played GW1, because to suggest that rank is a measurement of loyalty is not only short sighted, but actually incorrect and flipping the middle finger to players like me on 500 hrs play time on GW1, who just PLAYED THE GAME.

For those who DID max 313 Rank there should be something cool, i agree, but a variant is not the answer and only fractures the player base.

in summary Unicorn Chomper for anyone who has played GW1 (easily checked) and a better reward more suiting those who reached 313.

to dismiss your usual arguments, no why should be go back to GW1 and rank up through a slow and quite frankly ridiculous ranking system neglecting GW2, and no, rank is not the same as loyalty.

Its not about loyalty or how many hours you invested, but being held to the same standard as the players that maxed their rank before you. POPCAP decided to acknowledge maxing your rank as an achievement even though it doesn't show up in your trophy list and reward players. That is the value of the UniChomper, even if it had 25 HP.  I think the devs doing something like this for those players who maxed their rank without precedent or reason is pretty cool.  Some players will never appreciate the UniChomper because they only care about increasing their precious rank in GW2 and toss it aside after hero showcase.

I feel like for some people it'll just be more on the sides of those who are just compulsive to max out everything and then never use what they hate again. Like "ugh I finally got this stupid chomper to Master rank, now to never use him again." It goes right with the appreciation thing you mentioned. Some see it as a reward for their work and something they have, the few who earned it. When it becomes available to everyone it just becomes something else to level, to some.

I edited my comment a few times, but that is exactly how I feel.  Until people stop looking at the UniChomper like its another pair of socks, I'm not willing to change my stance or compromise.

@IronCatFish47and that is why my stance is the same. For people who want it because the ranking was tough in GW1, I say oh well. It was no easier for us, but we did it. It's a unicorn chomper for a reason. It becomes available to all, it may as well be a rainbow albino chomper. Take the horn off, cuz it's not as rare as a unicorn anymore.

@leebbuk I see where you're coming from but the fact that those who were willing to rank up shows a certain type of commitment to the game. It's true that you could play countless hours without ranking (which I did myself for a long time) but you know what I accumulated while playing all those hours...lots of coins...I have thousands of hours on that game and didn't even both hitting the first max rank which was around 200 and something. But ranking up shows you went above and beyond for the game. You committed extra.

You can also look at it this way for your 72 hours to 300 hours comparison (which was a little ridiculous)...there's nothing wrong with playing the same character over and over again, that's great that you enjoyed it. But if you played 300 hours then you earned a certain amount of coins that could open plenty of 15k packs that could earn you skip stars with up to 10 skip stars per pack and that would easily help you level up faster. You can still level and not even switch classes in that game. 

Loyalty is both time and commitment. Think of it as someone who just shows up to work everyday not giving a * about their job and leaving vs someone who shows up and excels; wouldn't you want to reward those employees more?

Comparing 72 to 300 was ridiculous, it's more like the other way around.

I hope they don't even make this available in Hero Showcase, and I will explain why. If you don't care about max rank in the first game, why would you care about max rank in this one? Rank means nothing, in both. You could have been level 5 in the other game and pretty much unlocked everything except class variants that requires you to be level 10, and be better skilled than everyone else. 

Go earn it or shut up. Kthx bye.

It has nothing to do with the "me, me, me" attitude, if anything the people who want the Unicorn Chomper handed to them are the ones with that attitude. This was a REWARD FOR LOYAL PLAYERS. That's what it has always been labeled as. For people to say "go back on your word now just so I can have something and be included". This has been advertised as a loyalty reward from the start. What does foresight have to do with it? There's no reason that releasing Unicorn Chomper as a Hero Showcase character periodically isn't a fair solution to the issue.

I 100% believe that ANYONE should be able to hit max rank, but I don't think others should be given a reward for free that others have worked for and are continuing to work for now simply so that they can feel included. I stand by that 100%. I don't care what level I am, if I want the Unicorn Chomper I will grind the first game out to get it because it really isn't that hard. Don't want to do the challenges? Play, save coins, use skip challenge stars. The leveling system in Garden Warfare 1 really isn't as challenging as you make it sound. They basically give you the option between doing challenges or just playing the game for a certain amount of time. It literally doesn't get any simpler than just playing the game to level up. If you don't want to grind for it like everyone else, then you probably don't want it bad enough anyway. There's no reason you shouldn't have to do what the people who have it now did to get it.

Bottom line, I don't think anyone should be given something that was specifically given out to loyal players. And that has nothing to do with what rank I am or anyone else. It has to do with what the character was designed around and what the character was intended to be. I don't have any legendary characters from packs after spending 21 million coins and I'm not begging for them to be handed to me. I will do what everyone else did and play the game and spend coins on packs until I unlock one. It's the same principle. 

@leebbuk from what I saw in the last comment there are people who are not loyal are people who despise those who have the Unichomp and GW1 and complain that never reached the maximum range that simple for que¿ if the GW1 did not arrive in which was easier challenges were not complicated and always repeated and playing Podias saltartelos easy these people if they did not reach the maximum range in GW1 that makes them think they reached the maximum range in GW2 and complain about something that will never make that are not loyal or later aburiran just want the Unichomp to play a while and then vote the game I guess those who say that the release for all or are new or are people who do not want to make the minimum effort as you or used as a pretext to alcansaran not the maximum range when even having it never will when Unichomp is a reward effort and dedication and really want to be maximum range strive as we did that we have and how many people are doing one year is enough. the Unichomp is an award that drew up PopCap for players dedicated and loyal to the game the question is this special award deserves someone who does not want to make no effort and despises the GW1 response to NO.

Why is it that people always want the same thing as everyone else while putting in 0% of the effort? Do you not believe people should be rewarded for their actions? There are people who GRINDED the first game and are continuing to do so NOW so that they can get the Unicorn Chomper. Then there are the people who probably barely played Garden Warfare 1 at all, wouldn't think of putting in the effort to get the character and then complain that everyone has a character they can't have. That's a little contradicting if you ask me.. :/ 

It really isn't that hard to hit level 313. If you want tips I'll give you tips.

Complete challenges in Garden Ops when you can

Play G&G and save up coins for packs.

Get skip challenge stars in packs and use them on challenges that are too difficult for you.

I promise you that it won't take you more than a couple hours a night before you're 313 in no time.

If PopCap should do anything, they should make it so that you can optionaly donate him in exchange for all the non-party legendary characters. I hit max rank GW1 for coins and not for a variant of a class that is just as unnecessary as the Imp for a frustration free game. And to all that went back to earn him, feel free to disagree, but I would trade him for every other legendary.
