Re: Weekly event

@RockScorpion384 I haven't yet seen if the challenges themselves are hideous this week, but actually for once, I'm ok with the mode itself.
With Rando's at least you're not stuck with playing the same specific characters as everyone else throughout the whole event.

    Win 1 game
    Vanquish 15 enemies
Confirm 10 kills in a single round

Theyre not even that hard, i just dont like being forced to play something i dont want in order to complete the challenges. There is no actual reason they couldnt alter them and extend the challenges to be obtainable in every mode, the devs are just choosing to arbitrarily make it more frustrating

I read the topic title and thought "oh God, is it that time of week again already?" and then my stomach sank a little. Here's hoping the rainbow star quest is doable. 🤞

@RockScorpion384Yes, I know what you mean.
I loved the GW2 option to convert the stars from the quest board to rainbow stars for the chests.
There, I've always looked at the event calendar in advance & if there's one I don't fancy doing, made sure I've got the max rainbow stars I can carry in the previous event, built up 200 quest stars ready to convert & with a little extra push in the quests, can still get all the chests without having to do much or any of the event itself.
    I prefer that system!

    @TLEsquire It SOUNDS doable - providing you don't get quiet lobbies or team-swapping . . . 🤞

@ToastedSarnie It does sound doable. I have a little trouble with orb quests because that means my goal for the match is to make sure I have 10 orbs, not that my team wins. I dislike playing selfishly in a team game. It encourages me to steal orbs from teammates while they are trying to steal orbs from me to get a quest done. Normally in confirmed I couldn't care less how many orbs I get as long as I can make sure my team gets them. I like sniping and will even do suicide plays if I make sure a teammate is close to get the orbs. I don't like my focus being reduced to orb-stealing jerkface. That being said, 10 is not awful and seems to be the "easiest" rainbow star quest they have given so far.

Thats what im saying. The challenges just ruins the integrity of the match. All of a sudden the game is no longer about winning and is now about how many orbs can you steal from your teammates. It Also incentivises running blindly into areas to collect orbs, potentially dying in the process, but its fine because ‘i still got the enemy orb so it was worth the sacrifice.’ It goes from being a team game to basically deathmatch where you are out for yourself, screw the team.

Taunting and public statistics evoke the same self-centered play styles.... it’s like the challenges coupled with emotes/taunts, and stats are just begging for individual gaming.  Why hasn’t someone realized these challenges (AND STATS) could be tweaked to ENCOURAGE fun and fair-minded team play?

As @RockScorpion384  stated, “Win 5 matches = 10 stars” doesn’t sound fancy but it would be better than collecting orbs in Vanquish Confirmed because tons of people dislike the mode and as @TLEsquire  mentioned, scouring around the map in attempt to gather orbs doesn’t exemplify team spirit.  As result, most people play the community portal until they accomplish their goal and leave (never to return) or they fail to complete their goal and turn the game off out of frustration.

Yes, I know what you both mean - I think it's all going to depend on the players in the lobby.
I've always enjoyed VC & in similar GW2 events, it was never too much of a problem but all these things feel very different in BFN, more selfish somehow. Can't quite describe or explain it!
I tried having a go earlier, but was 1 of 2 against 4, so just quit.
Will try again later, but if it turns out to be annoying, I won't bother trying over & over - I'm waaay beyond caring about Rux customisations now.
If I'm not enjoying the game I'm playing, no point in keep attempting it 🤷‍♀️

    I don't mind Rando Confirmed.

I know some people want to play their favorite characters but I like that Rando Confirmed just saddles you with something. With Rando I don't feel a large amount of pressure to perform since my character is no longer my choice and instead I just try to play the role assigned to me and some of my best performances happened when playing a character which I probably would not have chosen for a round of Vanquish Confirmed.

Collecting the 10 Orbs in one round was a bit of a chore since you sort of have to play more aggressively and take more risks but, by chance or not, I finished it on both my account and my son's account when I wasn't really trying to play differently to accomplish it. Once I stopped trying and started just playing with the attitude that I would get it when I got it I wound up attached to a pretty good team and received my pittance of Rainbow Stars within three games. Luckily Orbs from both your team and the other team count.

Now that I've finished it I'm not likely to go back to it without a specific PvP quest which I'm trying to do- since Turf Takeover is in the state it's in I will be more likely to do those PvP quests in Rando instead.

I actually really enjoy Rando, it was one of my favorite portal events in GW2 but not a fan of some of the very specific weekly challenges that BfN has. reading about this week's, at least they aren't as bad as some have been, they remind of some of the quests in GW2 to grab orbs which could be annoying, but at least it was a standard part of the mode. The boss TT challenge(s) of opening chests was a really bad idea for example, any time they encourage you to go out of your way for selfish reasons in a team game is a bad idea.

Thing is that in GW2 you could do it in private/solo mode...
but in BFN you are forced to play over and over again in Pvp like it or not till you reach the required goal.

I don't mind a bit of Rando it can be fun.... but the weekly mode thing is lousy.... forced play... for a measly 40 stars.
I've completed my challenges for this week and a bit fed up with the mode already, probably wont play it again often if at all.
The weekly challenges seem like a total chore, not an enjoyable fun time...

The way things are going its almost  like they are trying to kill the game by boring us to death purposely, causing so much frustration, stress and disappointment for the players who  are trying to hang in there.

Most of us here are total fans of the franchise and we are fed up with the situation, one can only wonder how the newer players feel with all this going on.
    Its just not fun!!

Ironic really when you think about the fact that most people are attracted to this game precisely because it is fun (or should be) and doesn't take itself as seriously as other shooters..... sadly it would seem that in reality we are getting the exact opposite.

This.  You nailed it.  Sometimes I sit here wondering if they’re truly pushing the limits (intentionally) to see how much we will tolerate.  Never seen such puzzling decisions made in my life; point and case: Space Station still trumps Oak and not by debatable standards.... no channeling delay, no cool down for alternating forms - for HOW LONG now?

Continually releasing patches that change nothing, not acknowledging our gravest concerns (Rainbow Stars, Rux, FOMO, etc)....

...none of it makes sense.  Perhaps they don’t see their tacky decisions as they’re making them but shouldn’t hindsight be 20/20?
