Shogun-Guard Legendary Corn Upgrade

Not seen it in game yet (but I've still not played any PvP in awhile). I did see Wolfy use it in a video yesterday. No one in Ops I've played with, and it's been quite a few people which is nice, have used it.

I saw a couple of shoguns in the weekly event this morning when I played a few games 🙂

I have not yet seen this upgrade being used when I've played, nor have I obtained this upgrade yet. But I saw Wolfy Playz and German Shu use it, also checked to find how this upgrade actually works! I love his shield, but don't like damage over speed as much. I prefer speed over damage, when possible. If you want to know exactly how the upgrade works, from my research, here's how it works, with Shogun-Guard equipped on Kernel Corn:

• Corn does 11 damage with his primary weapon. This can be increased with Butter Beacon.
• Corn shoots at about 55-60% speed, compared to if not using this upgrade.
• Corn's shield has 75 health.
• When not using the shield, it takes 2 seconds for it to start regenerating.
• If the shield is destroyed, it takes 5 seconds for it to start regenerating instead.
• The shield regenerates 10 health per second.
• You can shoot while shielding as corn.

Overall, I haven't tried this upgrade, but from what I've seen, I really like it and can't wait to use it! 🙂

@asabaida Indeed we do! The time differential is the main issue. As I post this, I'm only 1 hour into my workday for example.

The upgrade sounds really cool to be sure. My only real concern is that if it is unquestionably better than default corn and you can buy bulbs to get it, that has worrisome ramifications. I fully approve giving us options for characters, I love that idea to be sure, but they need to be balanced (and regular character balance still needs work), and they really need to avoid any hint of pay to win.

@shurikeninja  I can't say as I haven't tried it yet. It may be perfectly fine as it is. We won't know until more people are using it and can empirically compare the character with and without the upgrade. From what we've seen it may be just be better than default corn but this is from a limited data set so we need more info before we can truly judge it.
