Suggestion: Infinity Time Rewards

I am pretty sure that most players playing this game would agree that this game mode, is more tedious than it is fun. It's fun to the point where you've unlocked everything you need, and for some people that's one particular character and others it is the character set.

For the few obsessive players like myself, who want every infinity cosmetic, well despite helping so many friends play this game mode I've found myself sort of hating it now. Once you learn how to play it's easy, but to collect 124 infinity items you're going to need to play that game mode at least 124 times. Assuming you get a legendary hat or consumable each time, I mean why would you even give coins as a reward? Enough rambling.

New Rewards

Promotion
Each successful run of completing wave 25 should give every player a promotion consumable that allows them to promote any character on that faction by up to 10 levels, so if you use it at level 9, you won't get the full benefit than say if you use it at level 1.

Stars
Every 5 waves should grant you one star back, that means after 25 waves you can start profiting on stars. This will give people a reason to go further than they had before.

Consumables
Pre patch players were getting up to two items per chest, if this was a bug then that's not really our fault. Even that would require you to play that painful game mode at least 62 times to collect everything assuming they never fail, never get coins....or the most important one, crash!

-----

As far as time is concerned, this game mode has very little to offer most players. Already, players are saying the party characters suck, but so do the other legendary characters.

I mean even if you implemented these changes, giving players the stars back, more stickers, and a promotion upgrade I still believe players would still stay away from this game mode because well it's tedious.

As this is the discussion section, I welcome all feedback. I mean personally I don't need anything except accessory items so these new rewards are geared towards everyone.

These idea's seem very good but they need to be tweaked a little bit.

Promotion consumable: seems a little too overpowered to instantly max rank a variant and basically makes the xp modifyer useless, perhaps make it give up to 3 ranks instead so it has a use without making the modifyer useless.

Stars: seems fair, not really exploitable or anything.

Chest rewards: Perhaps make it so all chests have a chance to have an extra reward. Good has 15% chance, Great has 20% chance, Amazing has 25% chance and Infinity has a 30% chance. But it should be extra coins or a customizable item.
  • Maybe you're forgetting there's like 500 promotions...it's not OP at all. Nobody is going to play that game mode 500 times to level up their characters, it's a side reward, an incentive to help others play the boring game mode.

In regards to duplicate chest rewards, do you honestly believe that everyone should need to play that game mode 150-200 times in order to unlock every sticker? Think about it logically, it takes 30 minutes to speed run, and that's 32-35 mins for most pros, and much longer for less experienced players. That's 75-100 hours of perfect runs, never failing, never crashing...

This suggestions benefits everyone, even if it had all these suggestions implemented I still wouldn't want to play it...but I know some people would consider it.

Are you level 5000 with every item in your sticker book? You haven't played it much have you?

  • If PopCap is never going to fix this mode to prevent constant crashes and disconnects, then they should also not deduct stars from your account until the game ends in a natural way--you collect your chest, or you select a button to return you to your backyard, I'll explain in a minute why you would do that. They should also make the game save shards as you play, so if you acquire 10k shards then the game crashes or whatever happens, the next time you start that mode again, you already have 10k shards in your account. And since the game wouldn't deduct the stars until a natural ending to the mode was reached, no stars would be lost when this happens.

I would also like to see a system where shards are saved up between games, and only spent when you decide. This game was supposed to be kid friendly, and accessible to everyone, pros and unskilled players alike. Not everyone can reach level 25-30 to even acquire the 25k shards for an infinity chest, especially playing on their own. So you shouldn't be punished because you're not as good as other players. Allowing people to save up their shards means if you only ever get to level 10 or 12, you just keep playing as many rounds as you need up to round 10 or 12 in order to accumulate the 25k shards for infinity chests. These people wouldn't exactly have it any easier, because they will need far more stars if they have to play multiple times to get enough shards, but at least they aren't completely shut out from infinity pieces like they might otherwise be. How this would work is instead of automatically dumping the shards into a chest at the end of the game (once you die) you're given the option to get a chest now, or save your shards and return to your backyard via a button prompt.

Lastly, just playing infinity should net you an infinity sticker. You have to pay to play this mode, which means you had to play at least 2 quests to get the 5 needed stars (barring the 10 stars quests) so you should get something out of it. Even the lowest level chest should give you 1 infinity cosmetic, second level chest nets you 2, and the infinity chest should get you 3-4 cosmetics or a character piece.

I have to believe PopCap was intending this mode to be fun to play. It's not. It's a broken, tedious, time consuming, annoying as hell, mess of a mode, which has to be fixed! The things I suggested would go a long way to make up for what they originally gave us--this disaster, and might actually get people to enjoy playing that mode.

tristkiss I like your style, you have a lot of worthwhile things to say about infinity mode. Could'nt agree more with what you said. Not sure if they will ever fix infinity mode, I think its their jewel gone horribly wrong. Not sure if they can admit that. Its actually reached the stage where they should either scrap it entirely or go back to the drawing board and give the fans what they want.

  • @EA_Andy Not sure you saw this thread, but as you're sending a report onto the devs, I was hoping you could pass along the suggestions of what they could do to fix this mode?

    Thank you!
