This is a temporary fix, but the game can't be played like this, not to mention the other problems you'll face after getting rid of the black screen. The only solution is to close and reopen the game, then try to die again, and you might crash again due to a problem caused by EA's negligence in allowing anyone to destroy the game and entire accounts.
