I can’t believe it. This game is one of the best third person shooters I’ve ever played, yet the playerbase is a graveyard. Almost no one plays this game anymore. Please EA, give this game a free weekend, make it cheap for a while, or anything. This game is dying.

I do feel like the PS4 player base has decreased a little bit over the last several months. I used to have to queue for my friends' games pretty consistently, now it's a rare occurrence.

There have been pretty regular injections of new players whenever the game has been on a good sale price.

Rumors as to how low the PC player base is seem false too. While any mode besides G&G are mostly empty unfortunately (I prefer mixed mode as it gives more variety but G&G is my favorite match type), G&G and the mystery portals tend to be well populated in US East coast.
And it is a great shooter for sure. I prefer it and GW1 over all others. The fact I still play pretty much everyday after over 2 years speaks volumes for me.
It is down from its heyday, but that's no surprise, we've not had any new major DLC in months and the many bugs it had at launch turned some off.

I didn't play much this month since the schedule is not interesting to me (no boss hunt, cat vs dino..etc). I just play occasionally to rank up my 2nd account.
I requested Spooky Squash boss hunt next month. If that shows up, I definitely will play that weekend.
Overall, PopCap needs to inject something new to fire up the community. Things start getting repetitive and boring, so unless you've certain goal (rank up, collect sticker pack, ...etc), I don't play that much anymore.
The simplest way is creating new super mix event :
1. Super Mix mode: Battle of David/Goliath that turn into Clash of Titans between Torchwood and Imp ->Z-Mech (Team Vanquish).
2. Super Mix mode: "I got your back" between Rose and Goat, paired another character (Gnome Bomb or vanquish confirm)

Personally, like legos, the game becomes drull when the player chooses its end. I would rather see new modes or "gimmicks" as people might see them as I have BL and other games to fall back on for raid bosses. Maybe something like severely reduced ammo, but characters deal increased damage exceptions of course being characters with 1-2 shots. Or viably all characters start at 1 health and all players' positions are revealed on the map, creating a chaotic scramble to stay alive. There was one mode from another game, which was team health, where two teams attack each other and try to finish the other off, but the health total is equal to the combined health of the team's characters. It encouraged teamwork as well as balance with a medic being mandatory for every 4 players. Again though, the community is not dead just slightly bored and is still stirring its stick in the sand searching for diamonds.

Xbox one servers have been declining in population lately as well. The lack of new content will drive away all but those who are dedicated to the game and will continue playing it till the next installment. With the Advent of games like Fortnite, it's not too surprising that there haven't been many people playing.

I enjoy watching my son play but just can’t get into it myself. Gonna sound like an old gamer here, but there’s two many buttons and functions. This is why the Nintendo glove never took off.
