At first I thought it was just the Super Brainz characters while they were in spin attack that I couldn't kill with beans, but I lobbed a bean right between 2 non-spinning Brainz and neither died, and I got one right in a crowded base of 8 zombies and I only heard 1 bing sound go off. Have they severely limited the damage beans do now? I mean in GW1 I would routinely hear bings going off if I got a bean even remotely close to a cluster of characters, and now it feels like they're useless.

Bean Bombs do less damage now because in the first game they basically instant kill nearly any zombie that was in the blast radius (even on multiplayer) and gave the plants a slight advantage in taking out groups of zombies. Now its made so if a zombie player gets hit by it they can actually survive with some health. The sombrero bean bomb can be used for getting kills at the risk of it going off too late to hit anything. (Plus you expect to get a kill by a single attack on something that can have 200 health? I mean come on even you know thats not gonna happen)

The difference between the Bean bomb and the rocket in the first game was the rocket would almost always kill a plant if the rocket hit directly, the bean bomb would kill almost any zombie in the radius of the blast no matter where where you stood. The reason it was toned down because a peashooter could clear a area of zombie players who are capturing a garden in G&G with a single bomb while the foot solider's rocket would kill a single plant on a direct hit and splash damage nearby plants for a ok amount. Plus if you add in peashooters hyper and small body it would be almost impossible to stop them from setting off a bean bomb and shooting a few zombies before they go down. Plus with 4-5 peashooters who can clear a area with single attack on the plant side it would make it a very annoying process if the bean bomb still did its damage from gw1.

Even if they don't allow for a large blast radius on the beans anymore, they need to readjust the damage they do. Pea is one of my 2 best and most played characters, I know what the beans can do, and they can and do kill All-stars in one hit, even if they just spawned. And I've been hyper as a pea and caught in the Brainz spin attack and you are trapped. His whirlwind acts as a vortex in that it actually pulls you into it, like a tornado, so you are trapped in it. If you are caught in it, it's over, if you can get away before you are caught in it, you have something of a chance if you can move fast enough, but even then he's caught up to me and pulled me into it and I've died. Why do you think people playing as Brainz ALWAYS use spin attacks instead of fists and kicks up close? Because they know the spin attacks are essentially a one hit kill....well technically a 1000 and 1 hit kill.

Well then, it's not exactly fair, because I was hit with a rocket and instantly killed. That was the answer to the bean bombs in GW1, so if they've toned down the damage factor of the beans, they should do it for the rpgs too.
And even the standard bean gave you at least some amount of time to get away. It never felt unfair in GW1, even playing as a zombie. But to make them this weak....what's the point????

Bean still do the same max damage as before afaik (175 damage) but they got a notably reduced radius and actually can be knocked around now (I saw a exploding Z-mech pretty much throwing mah bomb I don't know where hue). It should be noted that super brain can tank a bean bomb even if he's next to it (he have 200 health).

Peashooter is still strong despite that nerf though, Pea gatling got a notable buff that made him useful outside of just sniping zombie. And hyper is still one the best,if not the best,movement tool of the game. Chili bean bomb is just tougher to use now,but still can be destructive if you place it just right.

Wrong, in GW1 the max damage for a chili bean was 175 and is easily avoidable. The chili bean is also very slow when it rolls and at times it can be unpredictable where it will land and detonate. I've had instances where the chili bean shot off at maximum speed but slowed down as soon as it hit the ground and got stuck. If anything it needs a boost on speed and a slightly faster detonation rate. I'm comparing this to the kick and forget attack of the Allstar. The imp has the power to literally get a plant stuck in it's path where the chili bean can be kicked around by the zombies.

Yeah I noticed plenty of my beans flying clean away from where I spit them, which means they're even less effective now. And again, going back to GW1 the All-Star has 200 points and would die from a bean, but no one felt that was unfair, especially since he had a chance to one hit tackle and kill a pea, and sprint to get away. There was a balance. But now we have super brainz, who takes almost no damage from a bean, can knock the bean away, and trap you in his spin attack and pummel you to death and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it, and this is balanced?!?! Yeah right!

Haven't used the Zen Cactus post patch, but if you run against a bunch of Super Brainz and Allstar scrubs, use it. I enjoyed wrecking those noobs with it.

Peashooter can easily escape his spin attack with hyper.

All-star imp punt is actually different in the way that he have a even smaller radius when chili bean bomb and do less damage (150 damage max), in top a being pretty unreliable at time. (As a all-star main, I still manage to miss my imp punt fairly often even if I throw them in the "right" range. And it happened even more often for me in GW2 as for late)

Imp punt also seemed to have lost his power to get a plant suck in him as I saw,didn't managed to do that trick in GW2 yet and I didn't happened to me neither.
