Why "Leveling Up" Upgrade is a Terrible Idea. And What to Replace it With.

Most of us would love to level up our heroes fast, there is no doubt about that. And for that, many of us would resort to using "Leveling Up" upgrade. It reduces the "grind" level required to obtain all other upgrades...

So what is the problem you ask?

  1. "Leveling Up" takes 3 upgrade slots in the process. That means you are left out without an upgrade that might assist you in battle and increase your chances of success.
  2. By equipping "Leveling Up" the devs cannot gain better metrics on how players perform based on all the upgrades given. After all, taking 3 slots means that the player is left to use 4 more slots only.

What do I suggest then?

  • The removal of "Leveling Up" upgrade entirely. "NOO!! What are you talking about?" --Silent Voice in Your Mind
  • They add a new place to purchase "Leveling Up" buff for 10 games, for example, by paying 10,000 coins. *the amounts mentioned are for example's sake, they could be less, or more, or they could be based on 2 hours or several more hours.

After that, all players will enjoy playing heroes without having to sacrifice upgrade slots for "Leveling Up". The devs will have better metrics based on players' equipped abilities.

  • I'm pretty sure that they would have statistical tracking of how many people use the leveling up perk and how many XP it accounts for.  You know what you're getting yourself into when you select it, and understand you're giving up slots to use it.  Also, perk slots are something that everyone will always have.  10,000 coins is not, so that's unfair to those that might not have the coins.  I think they will do just fine with how it is.

@CJackson5083  Yes, they do have "statistical tracking". But there might be players who talk about Foot Soldier being weak while them equipping "Leveling Up". Also, having it equipped lowers the number of players who contribute to the "statistical tracking". For example, I've maxed almost all heroes. But during that journey, I used "Leveling Up" and other upgrades that I almost never changed and then moved on to other characters. Players like myself, who prioritize leveling up, rather than trying different upgrade dilute the tracking system.

That means, they have lost crucial data from players of different skill levels.

The 10k coins was just an example only as I've mentioned. It could be 5k or 2k or 1 coin. 10k coins can be earned in 1 turf takeover game. Also, this is all "optional". Exactly like how equipping "Leveling Up" is optional.

    Damn I'm guilty.
  • The way they did leveling multipliers in GW2 was great. You could just shoot some targets, and you had another multiplier level. Can we bring the quest board back?
